Hi wanted to know what it is like being stationed in Italy. Might be a option for us in the future :D

i lived there for 2.5 years. it's awesome and the food!!!!!!!!! :drool the ice cream is fresh every day, you will love all the food. it's perfect. but polluted. base housing is ok though. i haven't been since 2001 tho. feel free to pm me with more questions if you think seriously of it

I lived there when I was younger (my dad was in the Air Force). We were there for 6 years (2 tours) and I loved it so much!! It is by far the best place we were ever stationed at. The food and people are absolutely wonderful and there is so much to do! Yeah, it's a little polluted, but not so bad that you wouldn't love living there. What base were you looking at?

There are 2 Navy areas in Italy--Naples and NAS Sigonella, Sicily.

We spent 3 years at Sigonella, which is in a rural area of Sicily (but near a major city--Catania) but still overall very rural compared to Naples. We LOVED LOVED our time there and would love to go back. So many historic areas, from greek ampitheaters to greek temples,etc plus the all the hand painted pottery, etc. It was just awesome. The food rocked too, and you get a nice COLA as well.

My SO is in Sigonella and loves it: boasts about the food, nice people, nightlife (if you're interested in that) and the music. He's very happy there. I grew up in Europe (bounced around) and I always had Italy in my top 5 fav places. If you can you should go...it's lovely

I'm here in Sig and I'm very attached now! It was a difficult transition, but don't want to leave now!

My DF was stationed in Naples. He loved it there. It's kind of a dirty city but that's well worth it to be close to all that history. It's beautiful and sooo close to Rome which I loved.

I live in the Naples area. I like it here but its totally different for me because we are Army attatched to a NATO unit.

DH is stationed in Vicenza Italy. We have been here for almost a year. I love it here. PM me if you have any questions.
