Does anyone know anything about Panama City? DB has orders to go there and I'm curious if anyone knows anything about it?

I do. I've been there a bunch of times (I have family that lives there.) and I lived in Pensacola so I know a little about the Panhandle ewww.

It is pretty, but maybe not the prettiest. But, I went there during spring break. The beach is pretty, but a little too touristy for me. However, Destin is not to far away.

Thanks ladies. It could be soon...or it could be the end of the year...we haven't talked about that yet because he needs to find out if his doc wants him to stay here or if he thinks he can go and do his therapy there.

We haven't ventured out that far yet. We just pcs'd to Florida and are living in Navarre near Pensacola. We love Destin, and have heard that Panama City is pretty touristy as well.

My parents live outside panama city and my sister and her DH were stationed at Tyndall AFB.. they loved it.

I used to live 2 hours north of PCB in Troy AL for 8 years! It's an interesting city. the beaches are pretty nice but it can get kinda crazy during spring break, although it's calmed down quite a bit in the past 5 years, imo. the rest of the year is much calmer. There are some awesome restaurants.

I guess I was wondering what people thought of it. Norfolk, where I am now, seems to inspire either love or hatred and I was wondering if Panama City inspired that same sort of feeling.

I'm not even sure now that I'll be going when DB goes. It was looking like I would be for a time and now I'm not so sure. If I do go then I'll be concerned with what areas to avoid, what areas are nice, what the job market is like (I'm a vet assistant who will hopefully be taking vet tech classes by the time he'd be heading down there), places of interest...I guess any little tidbit I can find out.

I lived about an hour and a half from there in Alabama. We would go to PC every summer and for spring break! I like it, and it was pretty party central for a long time, but it has calmed down quite a bit the last time we were down there. There are a lot of high rise hotels and condos. Good places to eat. They have a target and a walmart. haha! Oh and in my opinion they have some of the most beautiful beaches. Everyone that I know that has been stationed there loves it.
