View Full Version : New Navy gal
navy.baby 06-25-2008, 08:46 PM Hey everyone! I'm a Navy girlfriend. My love is leaving for boot camp on the 30th but i've been away from him for 2 weeks because i'm studying abroad (hopefully it'll help the time pass!) We're high school sweethearts, been together for about 4 years. We live in San Diego and i'd love to get to know military significant others, wifes/girlfriends/anything! I'm a military brat myself so I kinda know what to expect. Oh yes and one question...i've heard that navy boot camp is 8 weeks however some say it's actually 9 because the first week is just orientation stuff. If he leaves on the 30th, when will he graduate exactly? Pending that he passes everything accordingly? Thanks!!!

Katiej 06-25-2008, 09:38 PM Hey! Welcome to SOS! My name's Katie and my DB is currently at boot camp for the Navy. I had heard that it could be 9 weeks but the majority of the time they are done afte 8.
goodiegurl18 06-25-2008, 09:42 PM welcome! Im a navy girlfriend too! yea the boot camp is exactly 8 weeks but there's usually a week at the begining where they are just kinda waiting around for enough people to get there. then they start processing and all that... it just really depends on when they get there... you'll start getting letters bout once a week after the first 2 or 3 weeks, kinda depends on what mood the drill instrustors are in. They only write on sundays so you'll prolly only get one letter a week. Anymore questions I'd be glad to try and answer. :) oh yea, WELCOME! you'll love it here.

Juliet2008 06-26-2008, 09:41 AM :welcome! His first week will be counted as 0 week because they don't actually start training. The first week they get their shots, dental work and all that. Mine went May 28th and graduates July 25th from boot camp so that should give you an idea of how long till or when he will graduate.
CoffeeGirl 06-26-2008, 10:12 AM Hello & welcome:D:D:D
BLBnJVB3 06-26-2008, 05:15 PM Welcome!!!!!!
The amount of time he'll be here depends on how long it takes the division to get all the recruits and when he passes everything. If he passes everything on time then he'll grad on time.
When they get here they are on P-days or processing days. This is when they get all their exams done and all the recruits are coming in. Sometimes the recruits come in all at once. Sometimes it takes days. One time it took my hubby over 1 week to get all his recruits (that division ended up being 10 weeks). This time he started picking up May 13th and he grads them on July 11th.
What I do is take the Friday of the week they get there (say that is 1) and then count to nine for each Friday. I did this and it came out to be August 29. Use this as a rough date though. Things are subject to change.
