I think my kitty may be preggers :wow
She was listed as 'spayed' when I got her, but I recently recieved a call from the shelter saying that she was actually not and it was a typo because she was too young when I got her.
I am making an appointment for her asap to get spayed, but I am thinking that she is already preggo, and possibly far along :suspect
She has gained weight, but she's young so I just thought she was growing. Also, she's become much more affectionate this past week. Does anyone else have any firsthand experience with birthing kittens? I googled a lot of info, but wanted some personal stories.
TIA!

Cats even young ones usually do pretty well while birthing. You may need to be attentive tho if she is young, to help her break the sack and dry the kitten (terry cloth washcloth works). Place the kitten close to her face to get her to lick and stimulate the kitten.
You may also need to help at first with the kittens latching on. Young ones can have a tendency to become scared and so petting them quietly and talking to her the first few times will help.
She will also probably need a quiet, out of the way place with a larger box, if it's to small she can't move and the new kittens can get trapped under her and suffocate.
I have helped with many kitten births. At last count I have bottle fed around 30 kittens at various times, 9 at one time has been the most I've done. Feel free to ask any questions and I'll do my best to answer.

Kaaau~ Thank you so much for the information! Very informative, and when I find out more I will def. be coming to you with questions :D
How old was she when you go her?
The shelter wasn't sure because she had been abandoned with her brothers and sisters :no
They told me she was somewhere between 8 and 10 weeks. I didn't know anything about cats then (and honestly, I still don't know much) so I didn't know what age they needed to be before they were spayed. I just took their word for it :duh
I have already asked around and *if* she's pregnant (which I will hopefully be able to take her to the vet this upcoming week) I do have some friends who will take a kitten, so that's a little weight off my shoulders :yes

If you take her in for a spay just be aware that it is possible that they will do the spay and will not always confirm that the cat is pregnant. I had one that I took in and asked if she was pregnant cause she was so young. The vet told me it was impossible to tell. Then he did the spay knowing she was actually very close to giving birth (about a week away). When I confronted him about it and asked what happened to the kittens his reply was that they had killed the kittens and done the spay because the world didn't need anymore cats. Needless to say I told im I would not pay the bill and if he took me to collections that I would take him to court and I would report him for his unethica practices. Just be careful if you decide you want to keep the kittens.
Cats can get pregnant as early as 3 months old but most vets will not spay before the age of 6 months.
Good luck.

Oh. My. Gosh. :wow
I would die my vet did that. I'd *hope* that she wouldn't...she's a wonderful lady here, a very small town vet. I will make sure I tell her that I think Callie may be pregnant before, just to make sure that's out there.
