Well, today's been a lot better. I think we're getting a lot of good progress.
We had our family day today, so to help the dog get out and meet other dogs, and lots of kids, we took him with us. He does amazing in decently long car rides. Especially because we got lost lol.
This morning, DF had to carry him up the steps again. No biggy, he's scared.
Well this afternoon when we got home from family day, he went up the first flight on his own. And then DF had to carry him up the 2nd. There's only 6 steps on each flight, but one flight is a huge progress for us.
Then I came in and took a nap. Was exhausted. Well, we've had an issue since we got him where he pee'd on the corner of my bed and on the floor. Which I knew to expect being in a new place and all. But that was only ONE accident. I'm amazed. I woke up from my nap to him whining and pacing. So I asked him if he wanted to go out, and he walked to the door. I put him on his leash, and we had no issues with him being scared going out the door like we usually do. I'm thinking he really had to go. I got him down stairs no issues and he did both businesses with ease. Then, I was rewarding him with praise, and talking to him, and I got him up the first set of stairs no problems, like he didnt realize they were there. The second steps, he went up the first half and then stop and if he realized OMG I'M ON STEPS!!! So I stood next to him, petting him and talking to him, and we walked up together!! YAY!!!
He went all the way up!!!! WOOHOO!! That's some progress. Soon enough he'll be doing it with no problems.

We have another issue though haha. He doesn't seem to like to be rewarded with treats while he's outside. He won't eat anything. We had him eating hot dogs at family day. So I'm thinking the reason he wouldn't eat treats is due to the fact that he was still unsure of us. So we'll see what we can get done now.

Treats and clickers work wonders, but regardless, he'll be OK, it just takes time. My mom got this little tiny thing, and she had spent the first 4 months of her life in a pet shop, and was afraid to walk on a leash on concrete, or any kind of surface. It was sad to see :( But, now she is so much better.

She still likes being carried, :lol but now she's a huge explorer. Good Luck. :hugs
