What's a reasonable expectation for renting a home in Va Beach?
How can I tell if I'm being taken for a ride?

OneRed911 06-28-2008, 12:37 AM VB is expensive no matter how you slice it but it does depend a little on area and house vs. apartment. browneyedbeauty 07-05-2008, 02:57 PM What exactly are you looking for, and do you know specifically which area? I'd LOVE to rent a house. LOVE LOVE LOVE. At the very least a townhouse or a condo. Something with more space and more privacy. ashley5 07-08-2008, 12:10 AM 1 bedroom 700-900 2 bedroom 850-1300 :sigh Krisha 07-09-2008, 08:50 AM Check out militarybyowner.com or ahrn.com Brandi 07-09-2008, 08:53 AM I'd just start regularly browsing here: http://norfolk.craigslist.org/apa/ browneyedbeauty 07-09-2008, 09:05 AM How do I know if those are reasonable though? Brandi 07-09-2008, 09:10 AM How do I know if those are reasonable though? If you browse through them each day, you'll get a feel for what the average is. The average asking price is usually what you can expect to pat, whether it's "Reasonable" or not. I think $2000-$2100 for a 3-4 bedroom is absolutely absurd but it's unfortunately the "average" for San Diego. So, even though it's not reasonable at all, IMO, it's what we're going to have to pay if we want to rent a place out there. You can usually just sort through and check out the different locations and if you're shooting for a certain price range, I'd plug that in to the min and max price fields so it's easier to target what exactly you're looking for. Theresa 07-09-2008, 09:42 AM We rented our house before we bought it here in Ocean Lakes. For 1400 square feet, we rented for $1400...technically it was $1350 but we had a pet rent for each pet, per month of $25, and it's 3 bedroom 2 bath. We're in one of the more desirable areas that hasn't been too greatly affected by the housing dip. Prior to living here, we lived in a shithole duplex in Chicks Beach and paid $950 a month, again for a 3 bedroom 2 bath place. Krisha 07-09-2008, 01:18 PM It totally depends on the area you want to live in. There are more expensive areas and then cheaper areas. anmiller86 07-09-2008, 01:50 PM well hon the words reasonable, rent and virginia beach in one sentence make me :roflmao. i am currently paying 855 a month for a 700something sq foot ONE bedroom apartment. I'm moving to Norfolk in august. also virginia beach is a bit safer than norfolk but in the long run, not that much. there are still ok areas of norfolk. my rent should be down to 685 a month for a much larger one bedroom or 750 or so for a 2 bedroom. so honestly i wouldn't even think about renting a house in va beach unless you get lucky and find it kinda cheap. bah is only 1242 for us. we don't have any kids. that's all i got. |
