We do a lot of meetings and such...They are always at a county owned facility...NONE of their changing tables have the safety straps...Even at the library....

Would you write to them and tell them?

I never used the safety straps personally. It was too much of a hassle. but i see no issue with writing them and asking them to rectify that issue.

If it irks you, then yes, let them know.. I didn't use the safety straps, but DD wasn't a roller either.. she never tried to escape diaper changes unless we were at home..

No I wouldn't cause I never use the straps. I don't use straps at home and not going to just because Im out in pubic. On hand on Sy at all times is my motto.

I would, but I always clorox wiped the changing pad I carried... plus it was carried in a ziploc in a separate pocket from everything else in the diaper bag..

We used the truck/jeep a lot to change diapers too..

Well I like sarah usualy change him in the back of the trailblazer but I didnt have the car at the library, we hitched a ride with DH...And then last night I didnt want to go all the way to the car...DS is such a wiggly rolling worm...I do what michelle does but in public he seems to hate it more.

I never use the straps I was always right there with one hand on him at all times. Plus the straps sort of gross me out I can wipe down the table with a wipe and then put the pad down but I can't wipe down the straps and have no clue what is on them.

yup especially because they are that woven material. And goodness knows what nasty stuff is trapped in between the yuck stuff.

I always just carried clorex wipes and a changing pad and receiving blanket. sometimes if there was enough counterspace I would just change them there.

I'd write them. There's plenty of people out there that do use them and if they dont supply them, there's probably some person out there that would sue them if their baby rolled off.

I've used a changing table on my friend's kids and will with mine, but I bring these disposable cloths with me to lay down on them. I really think places should invest in supplying those, as a lot do the disposable toilet seat covers.

I didnt want you guys to think that I just dont pay attention of hold on to him, its just that he is all over the place and sometimes it takes two of us to change his diaper now.

But when you see signs on the tables that say they are not held responsible for what happens to your child its kinda like they know they are wrong.

no one thinks that at all Jenny. trust me i have been on the end of wiggling babies plenty of times.
The reason they say that is because it is a liability and well parents have responsibility to watch their kids. Cuz you know some idiot won't pay attention and try and sue the city for having changing tables too high or something like that. Write the letter and let them know that you don't think it is safe for them not to have straps on the changing table. I just didn't like using them for me. that is all.

I don't careabout the straps, I mean, whos dumb enough o walk away from their kid on a plastic changing table in a public restroom?! but I would write and ask why they never seem to have the paper that your supposed to put down on it (like toile paper liners but for the table. I don't always remember my changing pad, and it sucks that I have o go back out to the car to chnage her in the sea becuase there isn't a paper to lay down. or at least have disinfectint wipes to wipe i down.

I wipe it down and put her changing pad on top of it if I have to use it. I've actually used BR's around here that don't even have a table. I'll go into the HC stall, take off my shirt and lay her on that if I can't get out to the car.

Honestly I'm more worried that the table won't hold than if she'd roll off. I'm curious if they need to get those inspected or keep them updated at all.

I tell you what, though, I'm glad I can change her quickly. lol.

I hate that straps are fabric. I'd rather NOT have them, personally.

My son hated the changing tables in public restrooms. He'd scream sooo loud. People would give me such crazy looks...hrmph.

yeah I never used the straps either. The thought of using them is ugh. They are a material that is harder to clean etc. I always hang on to my kiddos. Ash HATES having her diaper changed so she wiggles and rolls and sits up etc so I just do it quickly but I am always there with my hands on her. Plus I always have this fear of those things breaking. With her strapped to it she'd fall with the whole thing. Not strapped and in my hands it'd fall and she'd be safe in my hands
