Last night I decided to make a kitty-pen to keep them all in when they get bigger. I finished it a bit ago and I need to clean it up and bring it in - I'll post photos :)
When I was working on this I checked on the kitties and Fiona had one kitten with her, nursing, and the others were left on the other side of the car - she couldn't even see them. So I put the camera out there to record what she was doing with them and she just ignored the 3 and nursed the 1 for several hours...
This morning I checked on them and she had moved them all but, still, was only keeping one with her and just ignored the others.
And today the 3 she was ignoring were rolling around and slowly moving out from under the car into the sun - and she did nothing (that was this morning at 9:00am).
So I picked them up and put them close to her and she did nothing.
Later on they were all back out from under the car, again, and still she did nothing.
So hubby put them back with her and she got up and walked away.

So all day I've been out there making a kitty-pen and I've heard nothing but them meowing and crying - and when I looked under there, again, she was gone. The babies were hungry and looking for her and I had no clue where she went.

A bit after I saw she was gone my husband found her in the backyard - sleeping.
So we think she's officially abandoned the babies and so we've bought some bottles and KML and we're nursing them inside.

What gives! I don't know - Maybe she's too young to really care or know what to do. She isn't even a year old, I know that for sure because when she came to the house last year in the winter I trapped her and took her to the vet and they thought she was just 7 months old.
We tried to house-train her but she escaped and ran off for a while. After that and came back, pregnant.

Kind of sad. But we'll nurse them and try to get them all to make it - soon we'll have to take them to a vet. Thank god for credit cards.

Sometimes they just do that, especially when they've been somewhat wild.

Awesome of you guys to nurse them to health and everything(L)

You should post pics of the little ones!

you will have to wake up about every hour to two hours to feed the poor little things and even then it will be hard going to get them all to make it. I think it is great you are trying though! Here is a page about hand raising kittens http://www.hdw-inc.com/tinykitten.htm Here is a supply list:

You will need to be sure you have the right supplies on hand. You;ll need to have (or make) an incubator (or a nesting box); and you will also need a heating pad; room thermometer; sterile cotton balls and gauze; an accurate gram scale; nurser kits with bottles, nipples, and cleaning brush; Pedialyte unflavored liquid; high quality Kitten Milk Replacer formula (while the powder is more economical, we only use and recommend the liquid form in the cans); and, in case you need to do tube feeding, you will need several syringes (usually 3cc, 5cc, 12cc and 20cc), and your tube feeder, which can be purchased through veterinary clinics or supply houses. Many breeders recommend the butterfly needle infusion sets as the tube is very pliable, and soft. The 0.6mm (outer) diameter tube is most popular, and the rubber catheters you will need can be found at most major drugstores. You will need a #5 French catheter for kittens up to 2 weeks old, and you can use a #8 French for older kittens.

Fortunately I have almost all we need. LOL - the benifits of being a Mom of many, already.

They've eaten alot, already. And we've bathed them and have been giving them the mommy-rub down every feeding time, too, for potty purposes.
Though I'm not tooo thrlled about getting up during the night I do realize I'm up and down all night long, anyway. What's feeding a few cute kittens while I'm at it. LOL

It's not for very long - just a few weeks - no big deal.
I remember the endless MONTHS with all the kids and this is nothing compared to that.

I have an appointment with a vet tomorrow and he'll show me a few tricks and tips that'll help us out. He's, already, given me the number of a few places and people who might be willing to take them if things turn out to be too rough to handle but I think we can do it.
My hubby's all for it so he's more than willing to help. Definately not his first brand-new kittens.

Mother cats will typically abandon litters if there's something wrong with the babies. When I was a kid, we bottle fed lots of little baby kitties..

Well - the first night of feedings went just fine. I set my phone up to go off every 2 hours and that worked out just great.
It takes about 30 minutes to do everything they need and then they go to bed comfy and quiet.
Too bad human babies aren't so easy. No wonder why people prefer pets over kids. LOL
