What time does your toddler (2+) go to sleep? How long do they usually sleep? Do they wake up at all?

Do they sleep in their own bed or with you?

Few months before her 2nd bday, she went from a crib to a toddler bed. She goes down at around 8-9 and sleeps until 8-9.. before she would wake up at about 7, but took naps from 2-4pm.. Here she doesn't get naps and just turned 3. She will sometimes, but the majority of the time, she doesn't. And she has slept in her own crib and her own bed.. since she was 4 mos old :yes

Savannah and I cosleep since her Daddy is deployed, and before that she was in her own bed/room but would wake up twice per night (at least) screaming - so it was just what started working for us.

We used to go to bed at around 8-9, but lately we've been going to bed later (9-10) and she's been getting up earlier (7-8 vs 9ish). She's still getting about ten hours per night and a two hour nap during the day, so its not like she's really lacking on sleep (but I DO miss those extra hours) - however I'm worried about her bedtime getting later and later.

It works for us because we just go to bed at the same time (sometimes I watch some TV after she falls asleep but sometimes I'm just so exhausted I fall asleep right when she does or shortly after) - but I just don't know if I SHOULD be putting her to bed earlier. I'm afraid if I put her down at 8 she'll wake up at 6am! I am just not ready for that!!!

Her Daddy comes home in a few months and I think I'll try to get her into her own bed and room again shortly before that, and make bedtime adjustments then - so I'm looking to get ideas on what other kids her age do.

Do you think if I put her down earlier she'd wake up earlier or still wake up at the same time? I mean, I know she would benefit from a few extra hours of sleep and I could use some 'me time', ya know? But not if it means we're up at the crack of dawn...

My main question, I guess is, if she's still getting roughly 12 hours total per day/night, does it matter that her bedtime is late?

Honestly.. I couldn't tell you that. Because since I've cut out the naps during the day.. She wakes up EARLIER. Only by an hour or so, but it doesn't make any sense to me either.. LOL

Niko (will be 2 in September) goes to bed between 7-8 and he sleeps until about 7 every day. He still takes one nap during the day.

Zach (will be 3 in September) goes to bed between 8-9 and he too sleeps until about 7. However sometimes he naps and sometimes he doesn't depending on the day.

They both sleep in their own beds. Zach's been in a toddler bed since he was 10 months or so and Niko has been in a toddler bed since he was about 13-14 months. They both do fantastic with it.

Mine slept about 7pm to 7/8am, with a two hour nap in the afternoon. They sleep in their own beds, always have. (They did share a crib with each other for the first six months or so.)

In the last few months (they turned 3 the beginning of May), they've switched to about 8pm to 7am with no naps. I miss naps...

Maddie goes to sleep at 9, she used to wake up about 7 then crawl into bed with us & sleep til 8-9, but since we got back from our trip last week, she'll sleep til 9-10 in her own bed. She'll take a 2-3 hour nap during the day. She sleeps through the night.

Ethan is 3 and a half

We go upstairs around 7:45pm. We read, and I am out of his room by 8ish.

He sleeps in his own room

He usually is in bed from 8pm-6:30am ish

He doesnt nap during the day and he doesnt wake during the night unless he is sick or had a bad dream

DS is 3 and it depends when he goes to bed. Lately, he was in bed by 8:30-9 but it all depends on the night. Taking a nap also depends on the day. The last few days it has been around a 2 hour nap.

when he was 2, he would go to bed around 9 and get up around 8 and take sometimes two naps a day. One in the morning, one in the afternoon. Between 2 and 3 he stopped the morning one.

Sydnee goes to bed between 8 and 9 on the week nights she will be 3 in November. She USUALLY sleeps through the night, and she sleeps by herself in her bed most of the time. She still wakes up some but that only started up again since we moved to Korea so Im thinking its just the change, She wakes up between 7 and 8 every morning. On the weekends I let her stay up later cause she doesnt see her dad much during the week so about 10 or so and she still wakes up at the same time. Weeks and weekends she usually takes a 1 to 2 hour nap during the day..

I would not wait until too close to his home coming to start a new routine. Either start right now so that she has the new routine down or wait until she is used to her daddy being back home. You don't want her to think that she gets kicked out of the bedroom just because daddy is back. Both a transition to a new bedtime AND a new bed as well as the transition to daddy being home will be difficult enough for her so I really would not make those too close together.

I agree with Kris. Do not do such a huge adjustment right before daddy comes home. Daddy coming home is an adjustment in itself so except regression on certain things. My daughter quit sleeping thru the night and my son stopped wanting to go to bed alone which is unlike him.

As for waking it depends on the child. It doesnt matter what time my kids go to bed they are still up between 5-630ish. So I keep the earlier bedtime. Its what works for us. My son doesnt nap anymore and hasnt since he was 2. He used to go to bed around 830 but when he dropped his naps I decreased bedtime a bit to compensate for a teeny bit of lost naptime.

Paige has never slept in my bed, she could have if she wanted to but she never really wanted to so :dunno

Her bedtime really depends on the day. If she takes a nap I let her stay up until 8. If she doesn't take a nap then she's in bed much closer to 7. We read a book and then it's bedtime. She takes forever to quit dinking around and go to sleep, but she's usually out by 8. She wakes up between 6 and 7 90% of the time.

DD is 2 1/2 and she goes down b/w 8-9pm if she had a nap otherwise earlier and wakes up b/w 6-7am. She very rarely gets up during the night.

My 2, 3 and 6 year old go to bed at 8pm. They usually sleep until somewhere between 6:30am and 7am. They wake up at that time no matter how late they go to bed though.

ODS has been going down about 8-9 for a few years now (he's 5). In the begining he would sleep till 8-9 in the morning (sometimes longer), but not he's up around 7.

Well I decided to take the advice from on here and scrap the idea of trying to get her into her own bed until after my husband comes home, because I have a feeling she'd just want to come right back into the bed when he gets here anyway.

But I did move up our bedtime routine and we were in bed just after 8pm and she was sound asleep within minutes. Then I put a pillow in my place and came down for some "me time" - now we'll just have to see what time she wakes up in the AM.

Kylee has always gone to bed and woke up about the same time, when she slept in our bed and now that she sleeps in her own room... didn't make a difference. She goes to bed around 11, wakes up around 8. She normally doesn't get up in the night unless she has to go to the bathroom, or needs a drink of water. She does not usually take naps.
