Both of my dogs have been on Iams large breed for about 4 years now. They've never had problems with it until lately. I wonder if they've tweaked the ingredients in the food. For a few months now, they've been having MAJOR gas issues. Sometimes they're not interested in the food and on occasion they regurgitate or sometimes (rarely) vomit. I've asked the docs I work with if I should switch their food but I wanted your opinions.
Is there any brand of dog food that you've used that you absolutely like?
I'm also looking for food that isn't expensive. Around the price or lower of Iams would be great.
I thought about switching them to Science Diet but I'm not sure. I have to do a little more research.

I currently use Iams large breed smart puppy ( the yellow bag lol) and Kota has been on it since his first bowl of real food ...he loves it..my docs say it fine ( well the doc that gave him his shots ) I have heard that its not a good food bc of it has corn in it which most dogs have problems with... Kota bear has recently had EXTREME dry and flaky skin ( it has always had dry skin but never never ever this bad) so I am going to doc on the 3rd hopefully its not a cause due to Iams ..if it is I will post it but I am not sure
haha thats my experience with Iams

Haha. I didn't know you had SOS either. Lol. Yea... maybe my dogs are just reacting to it because they've been on it so long. I know I developed allergies to some food later on in life after eating the stuff for years. The gas is freaking killer though! Her shepherd butt gets booted out into the backyard until the smell leaves. Yuck!

I'm trying to remember what I feed my dog but it escapes me and she lives with my mom right now. Otherwise, I'd get up and look.
I know one of our dogs refused to eat her food after a while. We have to fix it differently (add milk instead of water, etc) for her. Oh I remember! I feed my puppy Nutro Max. I feed her the purple container stuff because she's a small bichon-poodle. But they have lots of great variety and she has a sensitive digestive system. So this brand has worked out perfectly!

I feed nutro max. no gas issues here. If you switch switch slowly and try to go for something with meat as the first ingredient. It will do a world of wonder for your dog. Their coat will be better, and their poo less yucky.

The Iams large breed does have meat as the first ingredient. Luckily my dogs did a lot BETTER on it than Science Diet.
ETA: Is there a difference between Iams large breed and Iams large breed pro health? We use pro health.

Ugh. I wish I could take my dog to the dog park. She's a little bitch when it comes to other dogs now. Her and her litter mate used to be great together for about 2 years. Then they started to fight really bad and I had to separate them. I'm working with a trainer friend of mine to see if we can't get her dog aggression down. It's better than it used to be. Now she only snarls when they come up to her.

To help with the gas try elevating their food bowls (to chest height). That way they will ingest less air when they eat.
Also try wetting their food with a bit of warm water first, that way it's expanded before they eat it, and not once it's in their tummies.
We did both of these with our pup and it has helped his gas tremendously.
