Has anyone else experienced their kids waking up screaming & crying?

DD has done this twice in the last week. She wakes up and is almost like throwing a tantrum in her sleep. She is rolling around crying and saying "owie" but when I ask her if certain things hurt she says no. I try to hold her or calm her down but she just keeps crying.

DS never did this so I don't know if it is growing pains, night terrors or what? It is really frustrating and scary. I'm planning on taking her to doctor to get checked out but just wondering if anyone else has experienced this.

It's night terrors... it's a phase she is going through... I know a lot of people who's kids have gone threw that... the main thing is not to wake them up!!! They will get even more scared... she will grow out of it but it is really hard to watch your lil one go through that... stay strong!!

Yeah I feel so helpless. So do I just let her roll around and cry and she will go back to sleep?
I wonder why DS never did this.

sounds like night terrors. it's a phase. reassuring her and putting her right back to sleep is the best way to deal with it.

Yea you can hug her and stuff but just don't shake her and wake her up... my brother had them and neither one of the other kids in our family had them... it just happens to some kids... nothing anyone did though... no worries!
