Jennifer 07-03-2008, 05:46 AM Old Faithful, umm....Canyon village falls is beautiful, but it can be a bit of a hike(two sides, lower and upper falls, both are amazing), Fishing bridge is a nice area, and near the west entrance there are a ton of sulfur pots that are fun to go see and an easy walk from the parking lot. If I only had one day that is what I would do, lol. I've done that entire trip in a day before, its totally doable. I actually lived in west yellowstone in 2005. ETA: I have pictures of most of these areas if you want to see, just let me know and I can get them uploaded Rach 07-03-2008, 08:00 AM Sure! I'd like to see the ones of Old Faithful and the sulfur spots. Thanks! We won't be able to really hike anywhere since we'll have the 2 little ones :( Jennifer 07-03-2008, 08:50 AM It's not a horrible hike, just a walk. If you'll have carriers/stroller, it's doable. I'll go find the pics Jennifer 07-03-2008, 09:18 AM Some of these may be big, I uploaded them to photobucket forever ago. These were taken on several different trips through the park when I lived there in 2005, with me, my neighbors(from poland) and my roomate in the pics. Why do they call it Yellowstone though? I remember driving past it one time and the area did look "yellow", but looking at the pictures, it doesn't look yellow "inside" the actual place. petsparkle 07-03-2008, 09:37 AM Old Faithful is great, and they have bench seating by it for while you wait. We were only there passing through (on our PCS move) but we saw old faithful and a few of the others. It was very cool. Going through the Tetons was wonderful too. Especially in the canyons. It's gorgeous, I can't wait to go back! I loved living there, I worked right outside the park and we went in 3-4 days a week if we could! Going through the Tetons was wonderful too. ohh yes, there definitely is seating (even indoors) at old faithful and a schedule as to when they expect the next eruption. If you are driving through west yellowstone(the city), there's a bunch of great kid-friendly restaurants and hotels there too, even some with indoor pools(necessary there, lol). Let me know if you want any recommendations. Shannon Marie 07-03-2008, 01:01 PM sad i live in MT not far from there and i've never been! :scared ....we should go this summer. Jennifer's pics made me want to now! silent_earth 07-03-2008, 09:04 PM So pretty! Why do they call it Yellowstone though? The indians called the river "rock yellow river" because of the yellow rock cliffs along the river that is in the nothern part of the park. I loved Mammoth Hot Springs. I took this one in March http://img.photobucket.com/albums/v59/vanim_oron/yellowstone/DSCN7892.jpg germanchick 07-04-2008, 07:30 AM We stopped in Yellowstone on our move from WA to AL and I loved it. I agree with the paint pots, old faithful etc. Make sure to eat a Buffalo burger while you're there! Yummy!
