LOL - My husband saw this term linked to the video of the kittens and said "isn't that a racist thing?"

LOL - WHAT! How on earth do some of these phrases and words become racist in any way I have no clue!
So I googled it and came up with a few "that's a racist phrase" and a lot of "it's a diner in Texas" and it's a "dance" and a "famous song lyric" and so on.

So - what's "Shuckin N Jivin" to you.

To me it's "doing your usual thing and having fun." Like when I listen to NKOTB when doing dishes - that's me Shuckin' N Jivin'

I always thought the term was attributed to liars aka politicians (like the soft shoe shuffle) I did not know it had negative racial connotations.

I didn't know it had racial connotations either :dunno There were a lot of things we said/heard growing up that someone has informed me later in life was racist. To us, it wasn't racist.

my grammy used to say she was going to do that on the front porch and usually it meant that all the ladies were going to come over and shuck corn and then the families were going to come over and celebrate with dancing and talking and eating the corn they shucked that day. never thought of it as being racist though i suppose it could be somewhere.

One of my black shipmates hates the word BUT I think she was getting it confused with Jigaboo which IS a racial slur. I was not going to try and argue the point though so I am not sure I just err on the side of caution.
