Soo, I've convinced DH to look at shore duty orders again and this one has popped up on his choices. He's pretty interested in it so I wanted to see if anyone had any info on it. Mainly the best places to live and school districts. I've looked into the housing but I have no clue about wait lists and all of that good stuff. We are also looking into surrounding areas, like Lakeland..

Dont go Lakeland but Clearwater is Beautiful! I gave birth to my twins at Macdill best 5 years of my life spent there in Clearwater my ex was Coastie I loved living there and the older 2 went to school a few years there it has been many years but I have friends still there still say it is AWESOME! The area is nice, lots of things to do...

I would live on the Tampa or Brandon side of things, crossing the bridges over the bay every day back and forth would suck. A friend had to do it every day for college and she spent forever in her car, and hundreds on gas.
Carrolwood is a nice area in Tampa, not too far from base, and not too expensive.

MacDill is nice. I live in Lakeland (our hometown) and I like it, but it's about 30-45 minutes from MacDill. If you are still interested in Lakeland, pm for more information.

My dad was stationed at macdill for 5 years! it is by far the best base we've lived at! we lived in wesley chapel and it is nice. there are great schools there too. brandon is also nearby and a lot of military families live around there. there is also new tampa which is very nice and zephyrhills is more for if you want land or anything. pm me if you have any questions! :)

MacDill is a beautiful base! I would live more towards Brandon area because its just nicer and a little cheaper.

I agree! Lakeland is a really long commute. Wesley Chapel/New Tampa as well.
There are nice areas in South Tampa, and some rotten ones. And some really expensive ones. That are just takes some searching. Carrollwood is nice as well, and not quite so far, like Wesley Chapel.

I live in Plant City. Its closer than Lakeland & there isn't all the big city rush & discombobulation (lol). &+ its a really nice/ pretty town.

I've lived here my whole life, so If you need to know anything about this area, PM me or something. I know Tampa, Brandon, Temple Terrace, Plant City & Lakeland like the back of my hand lol. I should- I've gotten lost in them all enough times!! &+ I go out there about 3 times a week. I know too many people! Geez! lol jk.

I hear Clearwater is nice. I have family that lived in Englewood (2nd vacation home actually) and they (L)'d it! there.
