So my mom and sister got me a sewing machine for Christmas and I decided that wanted to try it out (I have not been able to use it before because I could not afford fabric)

So I made this today... please do not laugh at it, this is only the third time I have ever used a sewing machine before so I am still learning. Sorry the pics kinda are bad.

I think you did a great job. Technically you could slip stitch the pillow closed, however if you have enough extra around the edges you can fold in and do the little stitch all the way around to make it look like there is that extra piece around it, did that make sense.

I made the entire pillow, I bought some filling so once I made the cover (I had to sew each patch together) I ironed it and stuffed it and sewed it up

I think, at least by the pictures, that you lined everything up very well. I didn't notice that lines weren't straight at all. Your corners line up and the pillow looks great. Well done!
