DH and I were talking last night and he thanked me for being conservative about buying things. So it got me thinking... Are you or your SO someone that needs the latest and greatest? Do you buy to get the latest gagets and gizmos? Is your SO this way?

I am just curious!? :confuzzle I am going to add a poll.

Honestly not really, I very rarely want anything although the last few weeks dh has bought me model cars and stuff for sewing so that I can do things at home... then again I bought him an amp for his guitar and we together bought a generator... so we have been spending a lot but we are not living out of our means

Hmm I use to charge things. I dont anymore though. I dont want to be in debt.

DF loves the nice things. He wont buy it unless we can afford it.
The only expensive thing I like is starbucks lol. That adds up so I go once a week now. Its hard. The only thing I spend money on is tattoos.

Not at all when it comes to electronics, or anything like that, but most definitely on outdoor equipment. My husband and I are both ex outdoor industry folk, and know that top of the line gear is the difference between being safe and prepared, vs. stuck without all of the features that you need. Better safe than sorry. :)

i am somewhere between very rarely & occasional. i don't wear designer clothes, bags, jeans, sunglasses, etc. i'm low maintenance makeup & hair wise. most everything i buy is on sale. occasionally i'll splurge on the latest cell phone or something, but not often. db is much the same. altho, his splurge is car parts.

For the most part we are conservative in what we buy. Except lately...not sure what is going on. I got a new job which pays better and he got promoted too so this past month we've gone a little nuts more than usual. :blush

we are in the middle. honestly I hate buying new electronics/gadgets and can live with what we have until we have extra cash laying around for it. AND most of the time when we do we use the money for something else.......we never just buy something frivolous because we can.

We had a BBQ here at the house and one of DH's guys was joking with him about not having a huge tv, he said "Chief I have great LCD you should check it out!" But they finance everything like crazy.......we don't do that.....it's just silly.

I am a huge Mac nerd and enjoy having a nice computer and iPhone. BUT, I used scholarship funds to get my computer and I used my birthday money for my iPhone and I will use my graduation money to get the new iPhone. We have a bit of spending money each month, but for the most part, we use his income to pay bills/debt/groceries, etc. and then any unexpected money (bonuses from the military, tax returns, rebates, financial gifts from family, any money I get from working/selling stuff on Ebay etc.) goes to vacations, gadgets, new toys, concerts, etc. It works for us. I like nice things, but I certainly don't rack up debt to have the latest and greatest. :mrgreen PLUS I am a huge bargain shopper!!! HUGE! It's an addiction. :lol

It comes in phases. In 2005 I bought a laptop and camera. In 2007 my bf and I bought a king sized mattress and a 42' LCD flatscreen tv. Next year I will probably upgrade my camera. I suppose I have an every 2-year trend going.

No we use things till they run out. I don't have to have the latest greatest gadget ( the only thing I really want is a camera atm but i want a dslr) and thank goodness DH isn't like that either. we bought a new TV because our old one crapped out on us. So we bought one that was nicer but we paid cash for it. We used our old computer till it almost died on us. I mean i was restarting that thing every 15 mins, and we could only use dial up because the windows version was too old to support anything else.

Nah. We're both pretty frugal by nature. Right now we're buying a bunch of stuff.... stupid moving... but I'm certainly not concerned about the latest or greatest. :dunno

I pride myself on not NEEDING things. Anything I buy, it is because I want to. I am trying to consume less, this is my goal this year.

I hate to shop, I don't like to spend money. We don't have to have the newest things out. We buy as we need for the most part and on the rare occasion get something just for fun...like the Wii we never play.

i will splurge on certain things... I have to have good makeup but I am not outrageous about it. If we don't have the money I don't spend it!

Not really. I don't charge stuff often. If I really want something I save up to get it. Not really into gadgets but I do have a shoe and purse fetish.

I would say I'm a little on the high consumer side. So is J. We can do without some stuff, but a lot of stuff we like to have the latest and greatest. We love gadgets and electronics, Best Buy is our 2nd home, LOL. Same thing with cars and certain things. Let's just say we stimulate the economy a lot :heehee

we research and would rather have stuff that lasts.

I tend to put off buying anything gadgety, etc. for at least 6 months & then see if I still really will use it and that helps a lot. DB doesn't have to have every new thing that shows up except when it comes to gaming and computers :no.
