Spring Valley?
Paradise Hills?
Lemon Grove?
All bad? All decent? Any particular areas of any of them that you would or would not live?
Brandi 07-07-2008, 04:22 PM And also, what/where is "Otay Mesa"? :dunno
Chevy_Gurl 07-07-2008, 04:24 PM Otay Mesa is down south near CV.
I personally would stare clear of LG, their schools aren't the best.
Spring Valley is okay in some areas but it gets HOT as hell out there during the summer.
Paradise Hills :thinkin Hmm I know I know where it is but until I drive through it I cna't think of it
Kaymara 07-07-2008, 04:33 PM Spring valley- When I lived in Lakeside Spring valley was a HUGE meth area. It may of changed but it wasnt the best when I lived that direction
Lemon Grove-No idea. Have heard some people say to stay far away
Paradise Hills- I dunno
sdshorty 07-07-2008, 04:36 PM Spring Valley?
Best friend grew up there, I didn't particularly like it when we were growing up, but I know it has changed a lot. My best friend's aunt lives there now, as well as other friends, and they like it.
Paradise Hills?
Never lived there, but seems like a decent area.
Lemon Grove?
I grew up there when I was younger (graudated from Lemon Grove Middle School) and I always liked the area. Lemon Grove has a small town feel to it. But then again, this was like 15 years ago, LOL, so it could be a little different now.
Otay Mesa is south of Chula Vista, attached to the Mexico border, and a rapidly growing area, lots of new housing

Frick!
Now that we're doing all of the preapproval crap for buying and I'm really starting to look seriously, I'm stuggling so much with being so far away and trying to do this long distance :sigh
I have found some really super cute homes (without bars on the windows :rofl ) in all three of these places... I've done the google maps with the street views and checked out the entire area and they all "seem" okay.... but you just really can't tell from looking at a place. It's frustrating, at best :banghead
It's pointless to try to rent, then buy b/c by the time we get into a rental and pay all of the fees and crap and get settled, the last thing I'm going to want to do is start searching for another place to move to and come up with even more money for that. On top of that fact that we'd be cutting into our two years that we'll definitely be in San Diego and I'm not risking getting there and waiting a year to buy, only to find out we have to leave in another year after that.
This is so hard! :nutts

I honestly would stay away from Otay...thats by the border. Spring Valley and Lemon grove are pretty but its a hit or miss area in my opinion and Paradise hills same. They were kinda known as the meth areas when I was growing up here...not sure if its the same now.
I live in Paradise Hills... ;)
Brandi 07-07-2008, 05:41 PM I live in Paradise Hills... ;)
Do you? Because, so far, of all of the places "close" to base (meaning, less than 45-60 minutes drive), it seems like paradise hills has the most places that appeal to me, within our price range and have what we're looking for (yard with 4 bedrooms are the two major things).
I found one that I REALLY like a lot but it's a short sale and I've heard about the nightmares with that. Though, it does seem like not many homes in SD for sale right now aren't short sales :lol
Well... our home was a short sale. And most for sale are short sales... actually probably 9/10 of them are SS because no one in their right mind would be selling right now unless they have to.
We love where we live. Our neighborhood is mostly retired and active duty military. If you find places you want to check out, I could always go take pictures of the neighborhood. I also have a great realtor contact.
There are a ton of 4 br with yard for well under 350 (generally around 300k) in the area and it's just a short drive from 32nd. J commutes to NAB every day and that's only 20 mins for him.
Let me know if you would like more information :D

This is one that I'm really interested in right now... it's the brown one (two story) with dark, hunter green accents around the windows and such. Big backyard and there is even a dog run :lol But there aren't enough pics of the inside for me to be able to get a great idea of what the layout is like. IT has really nice bathrooms and floors through out though :giggle

What do you think of that general area though?
I've driven by that one before ;) Let me look it up on McMillin :D
OMG... we almost bought that one (or at least were going to put an offer on it but our sale went through!!!)

Oh realllly? So did you actually get to see the inside of it and everything? They don't have enough pics of the inside for me to really see the layout, which sucks b/c I like the outside, I like how the area looks, I Like the backyard, the bathrooms are nice and the stair area that they have pictured looks nice. It just sucks that we're not there and can't actually see it. :sigh
We never went in, though we sat outside. The homeowners were home at the time, though, so my uncle (our realtor) didn't want to bug them. LOL
The area is nice, the house looks great on the outside. I wonder if it's vacant now.... If so, maybe I can ask my Uncle to show it to me.
