I'm going to be making the move to VA when dh gets back, but I wanted to start to get a general idea about places now. We're looking for a house ideally. Any suggestions on a good area or a good website on where to start searching out places? I'd basically like to get a general price range of what's out there and the location. (Can't be too far from base) TIA!! :)

I recommend you check the local newspaper, the Virginian-Pilot, at www.pilotonline.com.

Are you looking to rent or buy? If you're renting, I'd estimate a 3BR, 1.5BA in a decent neighborhood would probably run you about $800 or more. Anything less would concern me. Kids/no kids? Pets? One vehicle or two?

Check out some of the things in the paper, then come back and let us know what neighborhood you're interested in and we can tell you about it.

We just found a place on craigslist...it's a little pricer than we wanted but exactly what we were looking for :) I'm moving to Norfolk too.

we live in Franklin and LOVE it. Franklin is a small town community where your neighbors bring you a casserole when you move in and baked goodies for Christmas. no kidding! I am going to miss it SO much. We are headed to TN and selling our house. Dh was ok with the hour and 20 min drive to Norfolk because we love this town so much. Best of luck on your move :D
