View Full Version : Optometry
harrisonsdream 07-10-2008, 12:40 AM I need to see an optometrist and get a new Rx because my eyes are getting bad. I know that because I'm BF-ing I will need a new script when I stop but I need one now--I'm getting headaches and I don't feel safe driving long distances because of focusing issues. Do I just call the tricare appointment line and go that way to get an appointment?
jen1982 07-10-2008, 12:57 AM I just called an off post Optometrist's office, and asked if they took Tricare. I made my appt. and the Optometrist's office handled all of the paper work. I think Tricare covers at the very least one exam per year, with a dilation. At least that's what I have been getting. lol. :)
harrisonsdream 07-10-2008, 12:59 AM okay thanks.
rosebud* 07-10-2008, 01:05 AM yeah what the other lady stated. But just be warned you will only get one eye exam per year ( i don't know if it is fiscal year or year from your last)
harrisonsdream 07-10-2008, 02:57 PM i made the appointment, i go the 26th--thank god for sat. appointments.
Jennygirl 07-10-2008, 03:35 PM See when DH was in, i had to get a referral to go...And I went to the one at the hospital...
Rain. 07-10-2008, 03:36 PM I always go to America's best. 2 pairs of glasses (lense & frames) for 69.95 and the eye exam is included

harrisonsdream 07-10-2008, 05:59 PM i am going to the eye center in Walmart. It sucks because I despise Walmart but I needed a Saturday appointment and I know they are good. Walmart's eye center will take care of ALL the tricare stuff too since the doctor is a vetran lol

The place over by target, the lady is also a dr on the base...I think her place is open on saturdays...
instant_oatmeal 07-12-2008, 11:04 PM Lenscrafters in the mall (by kohls) does sat and sun appointments. Thats where I go. Tricare only covers glasses exams, if you want contacts you're on your own.
froglove 07-12-2008, 11:12 PM Yes like Instant oatmeal said, Tricare will only cover the exam. You pay the cost of all materials.
