Oh dude.... I'm totally over this :sun bullshit..... :lol

But we don't have craziness like this in Washington.... we only get lightning like once or twice a year, and it's never anything crazy..... and all our rainwater drains just fine.

I just looked in the backyard... I could seriously go swimming... and we don't even have a pool :rofl

Yes not only did I see the rain but I experienced it firsthand!!!! I was driving home from my moms house around 930p and my car just about stalled out in a flooded intersection. It was so scary!!! The street light was out so everyone was doing that 4way stop thing, and while I was waiting in the long line of traffic, my car started making these crazy grinding noises. :wowsers I opened my car door to see how high the water was, and some water actually sloshed in and got my feet wet. I was horrified I was going to stall out right there. I made it through the intersection thank goodness :prayand drove thru the rest of intersections at about 20mph. It took me forever, but I made it home safely and was able to let my poor wet doggies in out of the rain.....

Thats good advice he gave you. It can get dangerous quick as I found out..... I would have just stayed at my moms house until the storm stopped, but I wanted to get home because my poor doggies were stuck in the backyard with nothing but a small awning to get out of the rain.

Isn't it crazy how Arizonians get all work up and happy when it rains?!?!

Disclaimer: Not smart...
When I was growing up in Phx (37th Ave & Cactus Represent!) we used to run outside at the first hint of thunder... my mom, sister and I would go crazy and start dancing and playing! It was awesome!!

Now here in the horrible state of Florida it rains soooo darn much I can't wait for it to go away! Plus there is always that slight chance of hurricane and that is even more lame!

It did not really storm here in the valley (Tucson area) until about 2 am I slept through it all. Apparently it was a massive storm though. In front of my kiddos daycare (just down the street from me) branches were off one of there trees. The drainage pond near my house was filled to the brim as well. YAY for rain!

I am glad it stormed though the humidity was really high last night! I love monsoon season.

We aren't that far at all. Only like what? 5 miles? It rained hard for like 15 minutes here and otherwise it was sprinkly and kinda misty Washington style rain. I was hoping for more. :lol From what I have heard, this part of the valley (Goodyear, Avondale, Tolleson) get good storms when monsoon comes. I totally hope that is true.

Awwww! Yeah, we probably got a stupid corner of the storm or something. The backyard here was still wet this morning (I think it may still be partially wet now) but we didn't have a flood at all! There was some water collection by the road last night but that didn't stick around. Damn, why does it always miss me? :lol

Tucson can get down into the 20's and 30's at night during winter.

"Summer temperatures which average a high of 98 F and an low of 70 F.

March-April and October-November are when the temperatures are at their most pleasant with average highs of 80 F in April and 84 F in October.

Winter (November-March) has an average high of 65 F and an average low of 38 F."

Here in our valley it gets cold after the sun goes down really quick especially if we have a breeze. Jan-Feb are the coldest months.

You've been spoiled by living somewhere wet. :lol Parts of the back yard are still muddy, not just partially wet.

It looks like part of it is that our neighborhood has really good drainage. The house I had in Maryvale would have held on to the same amount of rain we had here a lot better, and we'd still have puddles, not just a bit of a mud hole in the back yard.

I'm sad we missed the really good rain, but I'm glad we're not out in Tempe anymore. East side seems to be more active in late August/early September and we'd miss all the big storms that only hit the west valley early in the monsoon season. I grew up on the west side, so it threw me off.

You know what this thread reminds me of...

Songs About Rain
By Gary Allan

Well this town has closed down way too early,
And there’s nothing to do,
So I’m driving around in circles,
And I’m thinking about you,
Today I heard you got a new last name,
Sure didn’t know it was gonna hit me this way,
And the radio just keeps on playing all these songs about rain
Now there’s all kind of songs about babies and love that goes right,
But for some unknown reason nobody wants to play them tonight,
Hey I hope it’s sunny wherever you are,
But that’s sure not the picture tonight in my car,
And it sure ain’t easing my pain all these songs like,

Rainy Night In Georgia,
and Kentucky Rain,
Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,
Blue Eyes Crying In The early morning Rain,
They go on and on,
And there’s no two the same,

Oh it would be easy to blame all these songs about rain,
Well I thought I was over you but I guess maybe I’m not,
Cause when I let you go looks like lonely is all that I got,
Guess I’ll never know what could have been,
Sure ain’t helping this mood that I’m in,
If their gonna keep on playing me songs like,

Rainy Night In Georgia,
and Kentucky Rain,
Here Comes That Rainy Day Feeling Again,
Blue Eyes Crying In The early morning Rain,
They go on and on,
And there’s no two the same,

Oh how I wish I could blame all these songs about rain,
All these songs about rain,
Songs about rain.......
