View Full Version : ANGRY WOMEN
Kelnbub 07-11-2008, 04:03 AM Letter from one 'Angry Woman'
I don't know who wrote this but they should have signed it. Some powerful words. This woman should run for president. Written by a housewife from New Jersey and sounds like it! This is one ticked off lady.
--------------------------------------------------------------------------------
Are we fighting a war on terror or aren't we? Was it or was it not started by Islamic people who brought it to our shores on September 11, 2001?
Were people from all over the world, mostly Americans, not brutally murdered that day, in downtown Manhattan, across the Potomac from our nation's capitol and in a field in Pennsylvania? Did nearly three thousand men, women and children die a horrible, burning or crushing death that day, or didn't they?
And I'm supposed to care that a copy of the Koran was 'desecrated' when an overworked American soldier kicked it or got it wet?...Well, I don't. I don't care at all.
I'll start caring when Osama bin Laden turns himself in and repents for incinerating all those innocent people on 9/11.
I'll care about the Koran when the fanatics in the Middle East start caring about the Holy Bible, the mere possession of which is a crime in Saudi Arabia.
I'll care when these thugs tell the world they are sorry for chopping off Nick Berg's head while Berg screamed through his gurgling slashed throat.
I'll care when the cowardly so-called 'insurgents' in Iraq come out and fight like men instead of disrespecting their own religion by hiding in mosques.
I'll care when the mindless zealots who blow themselves up in search of nirvana care about the innocent children within range of their suicide.
I'll care when the American media stops pretending that their First Amendment liberties are somehow derived from international law instead of the United States Constitution's Bill of Rights.
In the meantime, when I hear a story about a brave marine roughing up an Iraqi terrorist to obtain information, know this: I don't care.
When I see a wounded terrorist get shot in the head when he is told not to move because he might be booby-trapped, you can take it to the bank: I don't care.
When I hear that a prisoner, who was issued a Koran and a prayer mat, and fed 'special' food that is paid for by my tax dollars, is complaining that his holy book is being 'mishandled,' you can absolutely believe in your heart of hearts: I don't care.
And oh, by the way, I've noticed that sometimes it's spelled 'Koran' and other times 'Quran.
' Well, Jimmy Crack Corn and-you guessed it-I don't care!!
And may I add:
'Some people spend an entire lifetime wondering if they made a difference in the world.
But, the Marines don't have that problem' -- Ronald Reagan
I have another quote that I would like to add AND.......I hope you forward all this.
'If we ever forget that we're One Nation Under God, then we will be a nation gone under.
' Also -- Ronald Reagan
One last thought for the day:
In case we find ourselves starting to believe all the Anti-American sentiment and negativity, we should remember England's Prime Minister Tony Blair's words during a recent interview. When asked by one of his Parliament members why he believes so much in America , he said: 'A simple way to take measure of a country is to look at how many want in.. And how many want out.
'
Only two defining forces have ever offered to die for you:
1.Jesus Christ
2. The American G. I.
One died for your soul, the other for your freedom.
YOU MIGHT WANT TO PASS THIS ON,
AS MANY SEEM TO FORGET BOTH OF THEM.
shellbellwillis 07-11-2008, 04:15 AM Kudos to that woman... I love it....
LittleMsSunshine 07-11-2008, 04:17 AM I believe there was a huge debate about this very email. If I remember correctly, it got kinda ugly.
Personally, I think it's one of the most narrowminded things I've ever read.
MIKOSWIFEY 07-11-2008, 04:28 AM *sigh* I think we decided in the other thread that chain letters with false information = ignorant and very :loser
Kelnbub 07-11-2008, 05:18 AM Believe what you want people. This is a very true letter not chain mail or any shit like that. May I ask, if you dont believe in this why are you married or dating a military man? Open up your ignorant eyes children, and only speak when you know what your speaking about. I can tell you one thing, that woman has more guts and pride than any of you will ever experience. God Bless you all.

I don't believe in that email... and I am married to the man I love. He joined before the war not that it makes any difference because he loves his job and everything that he does. My personal feelings on current events have nothing to do with his job, I was raised to love everyone in the world and consider myself of the educated type who thinks its rude, wrong and uneducated to say things such as that email. :)

Ok I see you haven't been here very long since you only have 7 posts, but something you need to pick up early on is we are a very diverse group of women (and men) with our own individual opinions. So please don't even start to call any of us ignorant or guessing our motives for marrying or dating the loves of our lives or I'm sure you will get more responses than you can handle. In my opinion you were WAY out of line with this statement and just so you know there is a lot more to my marriage then the military and controversial e-mails like this.

Well, I pray that the Spaghetti Monster blesses your life and you no longer worship that false God of yours!!

I am married to a veteran because I DON'T believe the hate in that letter. He served his country because he doesn't believe it either. Take your own advice. ;)
jen1982 07-11-2008, 11:26 AM De ja vu! This is the exact email that someone from our FRG(oh yes, it happened)emailed to everyone on the contact list. I flipped out!
OP, don't forget that there are members of our armed forces that DO NOT believe in a god of any kind. (My husband is one of them) It does not make them less than anyone else. Neither does believing a different set of beliefs. Being a Christian (going this way because of the "two defining forces ever willing to die for you") does not make anyone better or worse than anyone who is not. It's damned closed minded to believe that one way or the other, anyone is better because of what they do, or don't believe in.
sharine25 07-11-2008, 11:32 AM Why do people not search before posting something?
Because they like to be treated stupid.:D
Miss B Hav'n 07-11-2008, 11:52 AM Wow, quite the entrance to SOS you are making. This "letter" has been posted before and if you were to read through that thread there was a very interesting discussion. Of course with a mind that is as closed as your seems to be I doubt you would get much from the discussion, too bad.
On the other hand, maybe it's not so bad that this is one of your first posts -- at least we know where you stand/what you are from the outset.

Yeah thats not going to go over so well. Despite being married to a "military man" and *gasp* having served in the military myself I find great fault in that disgusting email.
usnwife1205 07-11-2008, 12:07 PM way to go!!!!
Please, don't get us started on why we married our men or what we believe. Really, it becomes rather fiesty up in here when we are all insulted....
Airman's.Reina 07-11-2008, 12:10 PM I believe there was a huge debate about this very email. If I remember correctly, it got kinda ugly.
Personally, I think it's one of the most narrowminded things I've ever read.
:agree.
I am not Christian. Assuming that most of the GI's are is insulting to their freedom of religion and also disrespecting the religion of Islam just because of 9/11. Wrong.
Its like hating Japanese people for Pearl Harbor. That letter isn't gutsy. It's shining a bad light on patriotism and our country's women.
jennypage 07-11-2008, 12:11 PM Fuck that stupid fucking letter. I hates it.
And she should run for PRESIDENT? Are you for fucking real?
Good god.
anmiller86 07-11-2008, 01:05 PM so i just have to say it....
don't feed the :troll :troll :troll
teehee!!!
deensam00 07-11-2008, 02:17 PM this has been done before and really ladies this is exactly what this person wants, for all of us to start argueing and fighting. This email is complete bull and should be :flamethrow.
Whoever you are do not go that direction about our spouses or s/o, that can get you some very choice comments and take you down a path I am certain you will not like. We are very quick to protect the ones we love and care about, that is not the way you want to start your time here in SOS.

Perhaps you should examine a few definitions first...
First, yes, that is a chain letter. It was forwarded to you, and has been forwarded to hundreds of thousands of people already. Whether the contents of a letter are true or not, it is a chain letter.
As for what you're saying here... You asked why people here are in relationships with members of the military. It is because they are in a relationship with someone in the military. Yes, I'm repeating myself here, but that is because the truth is neither pure nor simple, and the only common factor among the people here is that they support their significant others, including their service to our country.
In other words, I can't speak for anyone else, would not wish to, and I don't even start to be presumptive enough to say why someone should or should not be involved with the military. There are two definitions of Patriotism; Fascism and Communism (Note: Communism does not equal Socialism, in this case. I am not talking about the Marxist form of government that spread through Asia and Eastern Europe during the early 20th century). The founding fathers used the second definition of Patriotism when they formed our nation, saying that people must be personally responsible for the liberties and successes of their community. They were fighting against the first definition, that the government is right, even when they're wrong.
If we fast-forward 232 years after the signing of the Declaration of Independence, we find that we have learned a lot about running a continent spanning government. We need both types of Patriotism in order to have a stable government. We need to trust our federal government to have more experience with running our nation than we, as individuals, have. We also need to question our government, to make certain that the people in power are not abusing that power and leading our government in directions that hurt our cummunities and liberties.
Most importantly, the inherent fascism and communism that occur in every democracy must be carefully balanced. Without this balance, freedom simply does not exist, and our nation is founded on the idea of liberty and justice. Without fascism, that trust in our government, it would be impossible to govern anybody, since they would ignore the laws. Without communism, there would be no way to look after the interests of the citizens and ensure that a dictator doesn't take power. Ideally, this balance should be preserved by each citizen, from the homeless, to the children of immigrants, to the heirs of the wealthy and CEOs of major corporations, and everybody in between. This is, unfortunately, not the case, and will likely never happen, because few people can see that a balance is necessary. Instead of looking after their community's interests, people look solely at their own interests, and if their best interest is security, they lean towards fascism... If their best interest is to avoid responsibility for their actions (whether they are a common criminal or a corporate criminal), then they lean towards anarchy, a twisted form of communism.
This is why I joined the military: in order to defend and strengthen the balance, to prevent both fascism and communism/anarchy. I joined to defend our basic liberties while preserving the safety and security of everybody.
The attacks against the US on Sept 11th, 2001 were agents of anarchy, to instill fear and destroy law within our nation. We responded to this threat against our freedom by swinging wildly in the opposite direction, by embracing fascism and forgetting about the other component of democracy that is essential for our government to operate: the communism. We forgot that we live in communities, and that our communities are essential for our personal success. Instead, self interest took over, which allowed us to slip closer to losing our democracy than ever before, slipping into a fascist dictatorship. The sad thing is that, all that a terrorist needs to do is stir up our opinions towards temporary security, disrupting the balance between fascism and communism, and lay low while the waves of popular opinion strain our nation from the inside... Terrorists need not do anything more than what they have already done. Indeed, if they continued to attack us, they would be undoing their work by polarizing us against them, rather than allowing us to splinter apart on our own.
This letter was written by someone who was wrapped up in the mindset of fascist patriotism that had been so chic after the attacks on Sept 11th, 2001, and shows a very selfish and closed minded opinion. When she says that she does not care that the Q'oran was desecrated, she is ignoring that she is part of a community, made up of a very diverse population. Within that population, there are Christians, Muslims, Jews, Pagans, Atheists, Budhists, Taoists, Shinto, Pastafarians, and many others... And remember, your community defines your success. There is a real reason to care about the religions of others, both from a personal security standpoint, and from a prosperity standpoint.
She says that bin Laden is responsible for the actions of all Muslims... That's like saying that Fred Phelps or Hitler are representative of all Christians. (Yes, Hitler was a Christian... a very public Christian who said that he was empowered by God to create his new Aryan Nation.) When looked at this way, the complete lack of logic is glaringly obvious... Phelps, Hitler, and bin Laden were all extremist monsters, and should never be considered representatives of their religions.
I'll agree with the author's use of sarcastic quotation marks around the word Insurgents... They are civilian combatants, most of whom are coming from the Iraqi population... They were not inserted into Iraq by foreign groups, they were created by us, after they had witnessed our troops treating the Iraqi people with disrespect. If people like her had cared in the first place, the "insurgents" would not exist today.
The same goes for the "mindless zealots." If we had cared, they wouldn't exist.
Perhaps the Author should study her history a little bit more, and realize that the First Ammendment rights were derived from foreign laws, namely the Magna Carta... and realize that the Bill of Rights is echoed throughout the world and is part of international law.
As for the brave marine roughing up Iraqi citizens, perhaps if she cared, that Iraqi would never have become a terrorist... As it is, torture does not create new intelligence, it is not reliable in confirming intelligence, and the only purpose for torture is to instill a sense of terror in the general population. If us, as Americans who are not used to terrorism, immediately jump to fighting back against terror, then imagine the response of a nation and culture which has a very long history of successfully fighting against rogue groups, terrorism, and foreign occupation. The only way to "win" this war is to stop acting like an occupying nation, and start acting like liberators by increasing the freedoms of the country's citizens, rebuilding the war ravaged infrastructure, provide jobs (not temporary, underpaid contracts), and be an ally, rather than a bully.
All of the problems that the author of the chain letter is complaining about can be fixed by changing one small fact: Start caring. She doesn't have to support the terrorists, and in fact, that is not what I'm asking her to do... However, if she realizes that she is a member of a global community, where famine in Africa changes the lives of people in her town, where war increases the cost of the gas that she puts in her own car, and where foreign aid to Isreal leads to planes being flown into buildings on US soil, then she can start caring about the roots of the problem, and prevent people from ever becoming terrorists in the first place.
Please do not call me ignorant, nor a child. I do only speak when I know what I'm talking about, and as you can tell from my response, I have researched this topic in depth, because it affects me, my family, and my community. When I raised my right hand and swore to defend the Constitution against all enemies, foreign and domestic, I made certain that I understood what the Constitution was. The Constitution is a set of rules for governing, and more importantly, it is a document of balance, allowing our government to operate effectively while preserving our basic liberties. Congress writes the laws, but they are unable to enforce those laws. The president enforces the laws, but is unable to interpret the laws. The courts interpret the laws, but are unable to write them... This system is in place to develop a balance between anarchy and fascism, allowing us to be concerned about local, communal matters, as well as national matters, without any one person or group gaining all of the power (fascist dictatorship).
As for that woman having more guts and pride than I would ever experience... How much guts does it take to repeat what you are told? When the original email was written, she was simply repeating the rhetoric that she was listening to on TV, and I'd lay down good money to bet that she was watching Fox News. How much pride does she have? A lot, and none at all, based on what I can tell of her from this one chain letter. If she does, in fact, take pride in this letter, then she takes pride in hatered and anger... she takes pride in complaining about the issue, but refusing to take any responsibility to make a change. She takes pride in an idea that simply isn't true... the idea being that if we increase Patriotism (the fascist type) in America, that all of our problems with the Middle East will go away. Of course, the opposite is also false, being that if we increase the Patriotism (the communal type) in America, then our problems with the Middle East will go away... The truth is, by restoring the balance, the very balance outlined by the Constitution of the United States, which every member of our military has sworn to uphold and defend against all enemies, foreign and domestic, then we can work through the problems with the Middle East through open, public discussion, by listening to the problems of our enemies and helping them to understand our problems, meeting in the middle for a mutually beneficial solution. It is a hard process, but we have proven time and time again that the concept of an eye for an eye, tooth for a tooth, only makes everybody blind and toothless.
Please do not imagine that you could know how much pride and guts I have... How much guts does it take to speak out against a government which can label me a terrorist for no reason, which can take me to a secret court without representation, without my rights of citizenship, without appeal, and without Habeus Corpus? How much pride does it take to know these things, yet still feel a sense of pride in serving my country to the best of my ability, and know that I am still defending the Constitution, even after my contractual obligation has expired?
jennypage 07-11-2008, 03:01 PM Ghedi- although I appreciate what you've taken the time to explain and spell it out for the (how shall I say it...) less SMART (delicate enough?) peeps on here, I'm gonna have to say that it is more than likely wasted cause I doubt that chick could even minutely comprehend anything you've said. Nice work though.
Miss B Hav'n 07-11-2008, 03:03 PM Perhaps you should examine a few definitions first...

:ohsnap
Unfortunately, Ghedi, I fear that 99.9% of the wonderful response above will go right over the OPs widdle head. :sigh
Bryanna 07-11-2008, 03:09 PM Dear Trina,
I want your husband. Just thought I should inform you. I promise to keep my hands off though.
Love, Bryanna
Dear OP,
oh honey honey honey.... the BAG of worms you just opened. I certainly hope you read the snopes link, the link where we already discussed this letter, and Ghedi's response. It will do you some good to open YOUR eyes.
Patriotism is not blindly following the government.
Another SOSer who is going to watch you get torn apart, Bryanna
jennypage 07-11-2008, 03:14 PM Dear Bryanna,
I like your "note style" posts.

Larissa 07-11-2008, 03:18 PM I am trying very hard to contain my temper here. This chain letter was b.s. when it was first posted and it's b.s. now. All it is is HATE filled propaganda, through and through.
And here's a newsflash- You can support the troops without supporting the war. That would be the category I, and a lot of the women (and America in general) on here fall into. But I really, really would refrain from insulting all of us in the manner you did. The ladies on here are some of the most intelligent people I have ever come across, and you would do well to try and LEARN something from them. Versus coming out of the gate swinging.
Believe what you want people.
No it is NOT, it's a crock of shit. It is a chain letter.
And YOU can't tell me anything, unless it's about ignorance. You seems to be an expert in that.
square bear 07-11-2008, 04:59 PM I'm not married.
I think bigotry and ignorance is for the motherfucking birds.
You just might be a bird.
Don't insult someone and then bless them. It's fake and tacky. Not to mention bitchtastic.
Oh crap.
I don't know whether to :hide or :popcorn
Good friggin god. This letter was incorrect when it was first "discovered" in 2005, and it's incorrect now. You and your righteous indignation are about three years behind the power curve here.
Luckily, this sort of foolishness is in the minority in this country today. The vast majority have opened their "ignorant eyes" (what the heck is that, anyhow?) and realized that this kind of claptrap is defeatist.
square bear 07-11-2008, 05:01 PM I've decided to go with :popcorn
sharine25 07-11-2008, 05:03 PM I don't think she's coming back. She's been scared away and is too chicken to back up what she says..

Honestly I have no problem with ignorant people leaving. Sayonara. Considering how often this site is probably browsed by media/general public now the last thing we need here is someone that believes and agrees with ignorant propagandist chainmails spewing their bigotry all over the boards.
sharine25 07-11-2008, 05:10 PM I am not dying if she leaves the board. I took offence to the thread and felt she was rude and disrespectful not just to me but to everyone on this board. Good riddance to ignorance.
Germanchick 07-11-2008, 05:12 PM Here we go again. I'll be back later to see what's going on here. Going to my MIL cause it's her bday. Don't have too much fun without me,

*lauren* 07-11-2008, 05:15 PM dear bryanna - i am copying your "note" format.
Dear Ghedi - WOO HOO, and bonus points for the reference to pastafarianism!
as far as the original note goes: this is just an example of how it doesn't matter what you say - as long as you say it loud, people will follow.. oh, what? someone's using strong, convincing language? they must know what they're talking about then!!!!
i am having the most frustrating day, but i'm running on 2 hours of sleep so my ability to articulate is waning. forgive me...
Bryanna 07-11-2008, 05:16 PM Dear Jenny
Thank you!! I like to try to keep things a bit more personal in this hectic world we now live in. Just trying to do my part :)
Lots of love and such, Bryanna
estacia 07-11-2008, 05:29 PM OP-

Ahh thank you. Gotta love Snopes!!!
I suspect this was a drive-by and the OP will not be heard from again.
Works for me!

Can't say I'm heartbroken either. Last thing we need is someone with their head up their ass.
Ghedi 07-11-2008, 07:15 PM As for the OP not showing back up... I think she might... At least, I hope that she has enough guts and pride (true pride, taking ownership of her actions) to come back, defend what she has said, or to explain more carefully her opinions so that we can come to an understanding.
While she seems to be a troll, based on what she has said so far, and that she is starting drama quickly after joining, I also think that there is a good chance that her trolling is completely unintentional.
Either she is here for trolling, which will be quickly aparent when she responds, or she has not yet realized just what a diverse group we have, and was shocked and hurt when she posted a letter she had invested her ego into and we rejected it instead of feeding her ego.
Since most people don't set out to be trolls, I assume that she was simply shocked and hurt to find out that many people associated with the military are peaceful in their personal lives, and it may be worth it to her to learn that being involved with the military for an extended time almost requires a sense of grounding, purpose, and peace in order to cope with the harsh reality of war.
Midge.T 07-11-2008, 07:39 PM True, Ghedi. She robably thought as a military community she'd get us all rallied up behind her with our fists in the air.
Propaganda BS. Hateful words that no truly informed person would ever whole-heartedly stand behind.

Germanchick 07-11-2008, 08:45 PM I love you :wub
Thanks :D
I do have to say that I am amazed at how little response this one got. lol I guess it helped that we have hashed it out before and that the OP disappeared.
