I am discouraged about trying to apply for college. It's too late for me to apply this year, and I just cannot afford it, not even for a community college. I am going to have to apply for grants and loans and stuff, but I am sooo dreading that. I originally wanted to go into nursing, but I am not even sure that is what I want to do now. I actually think I would like to become a librarian...nerdy I know... but I love working with books and people and getting kids into reading. I had some great librarians as a kid and they were a big inspiration to me to go follow my dreams and to love reading and learning, and I guess I would like to give back in a way and maybe do a child the same favor. I want to volunteer at both the library and the hospital to see what kind of work I like the best. I really want to go to a community college next spring, but I dont know how I'm going to pay for it, especially if I dont know what specific field to go into. I need to brush up on my math and science courses for sure, and my ACT scores showed I would be in College English right now. I know I'm babbling...I just dont know if there are any grants or loans out there that pay for students to just take certain classes???:dunno

Well, you don't have to know what you want to do when you start school. It helps- I think it's easier to be motivated- but college classes will also help you decide in which direction you want to go. Fill out FAFSA- I always do so in spring, right after I file my tax return- I have quite a bit of my college paid for. Until then- I don't know! You could maybe take a class or two just to get you back in the habit of going, while you continue to work?
You'll figure out something. :)

Try FAFSA and look into scholarships offered at your college and then try every loan possible! Please don't be discouraged...I promise, once it's all said and done all of the craziness is well worth it!!!! Also, when you go to sign up for class you don't have to know what you want to major in...you can choose undecided/general and you will take general education classes that EVERY major is required to have (a science, a history, a math, etc.)
I noticed on your siggy that you're a veteran's daughter...my good friend is also a veteran's daughter and she used her father's GI Bill to go to college because he didn't use it! Look into that...

Well if you aren't 100% sure what you want to do then maybe do community college for 2 years and get your associates and transfer to a 4 year school. I did that and it was really beneficial for me. It was also a lot cheaper. As the other ladies have stated get in contact with FAFSA
