Oh and big one.... go look at dresses, David's Bridal is having a big sale at the moment. PM me if you want. I would love to do wedding planning. One thing I can say is do not stress and learn to compromise. Look at lots of magazines and get an idea of what you would like, also cut pics out of the magazines and have a folder of the pics to show the photographer the types of photos you would like. Oh and big one.... go look at dresses, David's Bridal is having a big sale at the moment. PM me if you want. I would love to do wedding planning. Good point. My wedding and reception were all at the same place. I found a couple that had the big place they got just to do weddings and events. The wedding was outside in the gazebo and the reception was in a big screened in pourch of the house. They also had a back up if it rained along with a room they used as part of the reception where you could have a DJ and dancing if you wanted. They also did the food along with the cake, in addition to a picnic basket of reception food and cake for the bride and groom to take with them when they left. It was great. I loved it. We did also hire violin players for the wedding. I would say as soon as you pick the day and place get your dress. Any bookstore has lots of books and organizers to help and god love the internet. I did it all alone. He got home, got fitted for a tux and 2 weeks later he was a married man on a honeymoon I picked out.:lmao I would love to get into wedding planning as well. Dr. K 07-13-2008, 07:24 PM How Do I plan a wedding...this seems impossible welcome to the club! i personally think it sucks! i hate doing this planning all by myself and while he's away. the semi-easy things for me to plan were: 1) ceremony site and getting the permit (we are getting married outside on a cliff overlooking the ocean) 2) reception site (only because we are having it at his aunt and uncle's house) 3) wedding dress (found mine on ebay! david's bridal dress... new with tags... my size... exact one i wanted... and the exact color) 4) officiant picking bridesmaids was a nightmare! picking their dress was pretty hard because i hate having to make decisions. and the date was kinda hard too. that's all i have planned so far. and i don't want to have to plan everything else! right now i'm in the process of trying to get a wedding planner out in ca to help me!!! if you like making big decisions and like making decisions on your own (ie. like you know what you want for your wedding and you want it your way) you should have a fine time planning. i, on the other hand, don't like making big decisions and hate the idea of having to make them myself. this is supposed to be our wedding and i feel like since he's not around to help that it's going to be my wedding and i don't want that. CincoAF 07-13-2008, 07:25 PM Yep ... like everyone says ... you have to start with the big stuff. The budget has to be first! Check out any Bridal Shows in the area - this is actually a big time for them! It's best to be flexible with your date if you have a dream place in mind and vice versa. Get the date and places set first. Once you have these set, meet with other vendors (DJ, Photographer, florist, etc.) to see who you like, falls in your price rage and is available on your date. I've been told dresses can take up to six months to get in after you order so that should also be one of the first things you do. Then just envision what you want it to look like. Some of the other things to think about - bridesmaids/groomsmen, colors, flowers, favors, decor, invitations, register for gifts, food/drink options (sit down, buffet, hors d'oeuvres, open/cash bar), cake ... The list goes on ... Good luck with the wedding planning you guys! Yeah, you can. Davids Bridal. :giggle I ended up getting it for $500 because they f***ed it up so bad at my final fitting. I lost weight(but not that much) so the dress was all wrinkled in the middle and when they bustled the train it was so big and heavy my body fell forward. So I am standing in my dress at my fitting in :tears having a total FREAK OUT moment 2 weeks before my wedding. Anyway, everyone went into high gear and the had to hand sew the changes to my dress. They worked around the clock for like a week. So for my trouble the final cost of the dress was $500. That was for everything, dress, hoop, built in boobs:giggle, vale the works. call me crazy but i don't think 1600 is that bad???? I expected mine to be over $1000. My Dad paid for the wedding but I got my dress. Today I see lot's of dresses much cheaper then what I got. Very nice ones. carmel11725 07-15-2008, 03:57 PM call me crazy but i don't think 1600 is that bad???? i really dont think so either. its still a lot of money, but i would say thats about average for a wedding gown... but dont forget about all the alterations and changes you may want for the gown LindsayErin 07-15-2008, 04:05 PM [QUOTE=TallBlondie82;2719465]summer 2010 so yea plenty of time QUOTE] We will be getting married summer of 2010 as well!! :yay cerau2 07-15-2008, 05:05 PM I bought a wedding planning book and luckily my mother has been a big help since she helped plan my sisters and brothers weddings.
