so Dh is in a field where there is very limited moving potential. We're talking like 3 bases in the world that his job can go to. (ICBMs) We are 99.99% sure that we're going to be here for a very long while. So we're thinking about buying a house.

We just got our pre-approval through USAA. It was a very easy process. Note that although you don't need a down payment, the VA has fees, and you will need to pay closing costs too.
