View Full Version : A Uterus Transplant?!?! MrsDarland 07-15-2008, 02:05 AM Im watching Dr Phil and they are talking about a uterus transplant....WTF?!?! I can see a heart or a kidney, but a uterus???? eelo 07-15-2008, 02:06 AM Why not? Donna 07-15-2008, 02:07 AM can they do fallopian tubes??? :giggle i dont see the big deal with it. Green~Mammy 07-15-2008, 02:08 AM Well some women have been forced to have hysterectomies or have other damage and I can completely see the need. I always appreciate when modern medicine looks to women and their fertility instead of just men and theirs. Hopefully insurance companies can start thinking about more then just men and cover it (along w/ countless other female fertility/birth control procedures). square bear 07-15-2008, 02:08 AM I don't see what the big deal is really. It seems like it would be like any other transplant. I actually think it's great this procedure would be available to people :yes Loretta 07-15-2008, 02:08 AM Hey, if anyone wants mine it will be on the market by Christmastime! A little stretched out, but proven to hold babies, yup. :lol On a more serious note, I think it's great. I'm definitely considering surrogacy and would donate mine after for sure if it becomes more common and is effective! MrsDarland 07-15-2008, 02:09 AM it just seems weird....I dunno, I could see if maybe it was a cadaver uterus, but they are talking ones from live women to from hysterectomys and the like. Dont they usually take them out because there is something wrong........ I dunno, it just seems kinda creepy, then again, I have cadaver bits in me already.....hmmmm Donna 07-15-2008, 02:10 AM Well some women have been forced to have hysterectomies or have other damage and I can completely see the need. MrsDarland 07-15-2008, 02:10 AM I thought about surrogacy too. I dont think there is anything wrong with it, I think it just caught me off gaurd because its not an organ I would normally associate with transplants..... Green~Mammy 07-15-2008, 02:12 AM they transplant a lot of things like eye parts, skin, fingers etc. Bryanna 07-15-2008, 02:13 AM cool!! That is a nifty idea. LittleMsSunshine 07-15-2008, 03:21 AM :thinking Transplant is a pretty major operation. I don't think I'd have one unless it was necessary in order for me to live. In other words, I wouldn't bother with a uterus transplant. For me, the risks would outweigh the benefits. RockinMama 07-15-2008, 03:25 AM My best friend had a hysterectomy, at 26, She gets married in Sept, and the only way they'll ever have kids is by adoption, so i think its a great idea. shellbellwillis 07-15-2008, 04:08 AM I think it is a cool idea... yea I agree it caught me off guard, but still if it is for the better to help a couple fulfill a dream of a family I say Hell Yeah... |
