I am glad someone else can use this info too! :) I know what you mean about artists moving. I had one back home who was awesome but a lot of shit went down in his life and he lost control. I think he's tattooing from home now. He had a lot of talent, it's really too bad that he can't keep his life from bringing him down.

I got my latest at absolute tattoo. Dennis was his name I believe. They did an AWESOME job there and I am actually having Rod go to get the tats he wants. And if I get a 4th I will go back to them

i got mine downtown at master tattoo. the guy who did mine, gil, does POD's tattoos. and then near mcrd there is a tattoo shop and over there they do the suicide girls' tattoos. dont remember the name, but you can see it from mcrd across from semper-fit

i got a tattoo at absolute tattoo and it turned out crappy and i had it touched up and its still looks like they didnt care what they were doing.. so im not sure where to go.. i want then fixed tho.. \

Church of Steel in downtown San Diego. Seriously if you look at their website you might get scared off. BUT I would suggest going and seeing their shop. It's nice and clean and they are SUPER strict about hygiene. I walked in with my finger bleeding from a hang nail and I barely got past the door before they were helping me clean it off just in case. They do awesome work! I know of three other people that have gone there too and are referring people to them because of their work.

i would suggest you just dont go to tiger jimmys(?) it is across from fuddruckers. its open late for the drunk people from the clubs to get their tattoos. i didnt like the fly tattoo that much either, but its been around for a long time.lol again on broadway too

I would say it ALL depends on artist truthfully.

My husband got one back in 94 at tiger jimmys and it is great. I got one back in 95 at flesh skin graffix in IB and that one was awesome. I got 2 in WA and I just got my one at absolute which is just awesome. By far my favorite. The guy was so nice. I knew what I wanted but no pic. So he took my idea, drew it on me real fast and it looked just awesome. The price was good too. This is my most colorful one and same size as my other ones and it was the least expensive...

It is really clean. Go to Teer, he is the best. He has been doing most of my brother's tattoos since my brother was 18 (he's 25 now). He has also re-done one for my step dad, and did my tattoo in April. Their website has a bunch of my brother's tattoos in their pictures section. Their shop is really clean, and you can watch them get everything ready. Teer was really great at making me comfortable, and he took my ideas from pictures and drew something up that encompassed my ideas, but was more me than the pictures I had.

I think it is. No one that I know has paid over $150. And they are all decent sized tattoos. Plus Culleton is awesome! He did both my friend and her husband (once he came home and saw her new tat.) Mando did one of my other friends. They do really nice work down there.

:yes Definitely agree!! I always check out the shop as far as cleanliness, standards, all that stuff, but when it comes to the tattoo, it is all about the individual artist.
