View Full Version : I need Hair Help [LORETTA!!!!!!!!!]img heavy
rosebud* 07-18-2008, 02:11 PM ok so i have a myriad of problems.. sorry this might be a bit long, but too bad suffer. :lol
Ok so about 18 months to 2 years ago ( i'm sketchy on the details) i dyed my hair black which is pretty close to my natural color. i had like 5 different colors in varying stages of decay so i just wanted to go back to basics....
well fast forward to last summer i'm with my best friend and we decide to dye our hair, well mine only took to the new hair because of the black dye. Soooo i decide eff it and go to a salon and get it cut and colored professionally. I got like blondish/brownish highlights put in and a cute cut.
fast forward to this summer. I have not dyed my hair in over a year ( and you can tell) and I really need a new style/color because i usually just go with my old stand by of longer layers and longish sweeping bangs..
Ok so here are my problems.
1. my hair is really thin and it is thinning out a lot.
2. my hair has like 3 different colors on it. natural, and then the color and highlights on the bottom.
3. I have no problem cutting my hair short, but. i have a round face and a terrible profile. so I don't want to go super short but I don't know what styles suit my face.
4. i just plain need help!!
here are my pics. no flash they were taken in natural light.
oh and yeah my eyebrows are black. so i want to know if i should try and get those dyed as well. :lol (when i dye my hair lighter shades I always feel weird because of the eyebrows)
this is the side of my hair the top is my natural color well in the summer thanks to sun dying.

Loretta 07-18-2008, 02:15 PM Ok, definitely go back dark if you can. That will reflect more light, creating a shiny effect, and it will compliment your coloring and make those eyes pop!
I recommend an asymetrical cut(not just because I have one:lol) because no matter how short you go, you will not have that cabbage patch kid effect(I have a round face too so I know that pain!). Something like Rihanna but four inches longer, is what I'm thinking...low maintenance and very sleek. The Victoria Beckham cut would be great, too...or something similar.
I really think you should cut off as much of that dead color as you can, because the ends will keep splitting and come back to haunt you. I have been there so many times and it just sucks, because new color, no matter how dark, often will not adhere properly because the hair is too damaged. Yours only looks damaged on the ends though, which is awesome, a new cut should have you in ship shape in no time! :five
You have such an adorable face, you really need that rich color to bring all the attention back to your beautiful skintone and eyes!
Also, I would not recommend dying the eyebrows, just a good waxing(threading if you have a salon local) and clear mascara or brow wax on a daily basis to keep them framing your face beautifully! Sometimes all I wear is brow wax and mascara, but it does make a huge difference :yes
querida06 07-18-2008, 02:17 PM I'd say darker hair would look better with your skintone.....and maybe an angled bob, kwim?
:yes a friend of mine whose face is rounder than yours just got one and it really brings out her eyes and smile
Im think of getting it done now
Steph* 07-18-2008, 02:19 PM I agree with going as dark as possible in color, and I'd go with a short cut too to take off the damaged hair.
I swear to bob you remind me of someone I know ... I can't put my finger on it!!!
sandykay 07-18-2008, 02:20 PM I have the same problem with my hair. I was thinking of going a dark burgandy/brown. That normally covers the lighter part and brightens the darker
Sailors♥Sweetie. 07-18-2008, 02:20 PM go dark!! all dark! and i bet u can get your hair very shiny and smooth by using garnier fructise! :D

can you post a pic of Rhianna's hair cut?
and thanks for all the compliments. Yeah i need a good threading. It's soo funny because when i thin my eyebrows I feel like they are even blacker. :lol the hair on them is soo coarse i plucked them once and my mom asked if i 'painted them on' :rofl
rosebud* 07-18-2008, 02:23 PM So should I go with like a dark rich brown? i don't want black because I feel like it makes me washed out/paleish ( i know hard to do with dark skin.)
Loretta 07-18-2008, 02:24 PM Ooooh, I actually found one from when she had it longer...this is exactly what I think would look fabulous on you! It's a little edgy, but so sleek. Just some skinny serum is the only product you would need!

Yeah, the darkest warm brown you can get away with, for sure :yes It's not the darkness of black, it's the cool undertones of most black dyes that wash people out.

She has it much shorter now too, I'll see if I can find a pic.

i used to be too, but then i was like well it's just hair and it will grow back. :teehee when i was younger ( like 6-13) i would just chop it off on a whim. I mean like super short. When i got to HS is when I was more all about the long hair. it took a while to get back to being more blase with my hair.
glass1/2full 07-18-2008, 02:39 PM I really think the girls have it dead on! You would look great with either cut!
I love your natural color you have going on...
Can't wait to see pictures of your new "Do"
mpicky 07-18-2008, 02:51 PM I would go back to dark and get some of the end stuff cut off. If you don't want to do black, do a dark brown, that sould work just fine.
Try the Posh spice cut, I just got it and love it.
As for your brows, I think you need to get them waxed and shaped up a bit. Don't color them, but use a brow pencil, they look a little sparse.

ditto. I had a time period where my hair was a mess.......after living in florida and being in the sun daily it really really bleached out.....so eventually I had two different layers of color.....light on the bottom and darker on the top. I went to a salon and I didn't want to color the hair again because it was just damaged and terrible looking so we did something like toned it to match better? It worked great......and a cut.....cutting off the ends helped ALOT.

LauranwithanA 07-19-2008, 12:49 AM i agree do that one! i have a very round face (alot of people say i resemble the cartoon olive oil because my face is so round) and i have a cut similar to that and its the only thing that looks good on me..!!
go for it!

JKirstiH 07-19-2008, 12:57 AM I think you will look good with any cut:) You and I have similar hair. The humidity makes me look like a poodle:) I think the darker will bring out the shine:)
