Which major to choose.

Little background, I was an Office Manager at the company that I started out as a Receptionist at in '00 before I moved here. Had trained everyone from Shipping/Receiving, Sales Reps, Bookkeeper.. even when we converted from Peachtree Accounting to Quickbooks, had to sort that mess out when it converted.

I'm a computer geek also, and they seem to amaze me. I do love everything about them, and have learned what I can over the years. At my old job, I would usually assist the IT guy.. and also loved doing it. I have these two options to go to school for and wanted to know what you think I should do....

Thanks in Advance :)

I voted for IT. As you already have experience in office management and have even trained others, I think IT would be more beneficial for your resume.

I'd go the computer route as well. We live in a technological age that is only going to rely more and more heavily on computers. To have those skills would probably guarantee you'd never be without a job.

I said IT. First of all, all of the IT people I have worked with have been men, so they need smart women to add to their awesomeness. Second of all, anytime someone is thinking to do IT, I encourage it because its such an important part of the technology field. Without IT, technology can't advance!

I would guess there's more money in the IT field than office technology.

I voted IT, too. Right now the industry is mostly male dominated but based on what I know of computer nerds in general (and the computer nerds I know personally, my husband and basically his WHOLE family included), IT guys think that a woman who knows her stuff is bad ass. :lol I think it is one of the few industries that generally treats women in the field better for being a woman and not worse. I think you could do very well for yourself, and if you love doing it, even better!

Awesomeness.. :teehee Thanks for the reply. You're right though, it is male dominant. The IT guy at my old job used to (L) it that I loved messing with them and helping him. It happened few and far between, but if I figured out something before he did, it was a great feeling!

IT is a great field to go in right now. You'll be in high demand and make a lot of money doing something you enjoy.
