Ok I have a question about it.
Can you use them to get your past due stuff current and keep your current stuff out of it?
For example, DH and I have been on top of most of our bills, for both of us, most of our debt is from before we were married. That is the stuff we need to work on. Our star cards and car payments are all current and in good standing.
We are considering trying debt consolidation. If you have done it, who do you reccomend?

i want to the the same thing. we are maybe 3 grand in debt. know in no means is that bad but its not good either.
so i would very interested as well.
plus it would be so much easier to figure out how to pay 4 bills instead of 10 hahahahah
I would NOT do debt consol for 3k. It wrecks your credit.
Also - debt consol is all encompassing. It forces you to get rid of ALL debt from what I've learned. It looks reallybad on your credit though....and most companies are scams.

Thats what I needed to know. Thanks so much!
you're welcome. I recommend the "snowballing" of debt, esp with a little bit of debt

I am not sure what snowballing is, but I am pretty good w/ money and I can offer you what I would do. I'd figure out what you owe on all the bills you are current on. Then figure out what you need for food and gas. I would then look at the past due bills. I'd call all of them and let them and see if you can reduce your intrest rate.. it never hurts to ask and some of htem are very nice if they see you are going to make the effort to get them paid off. Then take the one you owe the least on. Pay at least double the mimimun on that one.. then pay the minimum on all the others. If youc an pay more than double the minimum on the one then do it. Once it's paid off take the next lowest debt and pay on that more till it's paid off and so on.

That is great advice. Thanks!!
