Anyone been stationed there? What's housing like? Schools? The town it's close to? Things to do in the area? Nice area?

I grew up in the area but I dont know much about the actual base. I have never been on it. The surrounding towns are great, I have a good friend that lives outside the back gate and my uncle lives a block from him. Of course its a little pricey since its Orange County. The schools are pretty good in that area. There is a TOOOON to do. You have Disneyland, Knotts Berry Farm, a bunch of museums, a ton of malls, etc. I have heard the housing is really nice there.
