Should the U.S.A. abide by a withdrawal timetable if the Iraqi Parliament votes for one?

yes if they can handle their own government.if they are voting FOR something i think that shows improvement right there. although you and i both know my opinion is swayed due to personal reasons so i should probably not have anything to do with this lol

Yes- it's their country. Shit will hit the fan if they don't pull out and the government wants them to!

Yes - if we were ONLY in Iraq and ONLY helping them rebuild their government.
But we're in Kuwait, Afghanistan and other places - Iraq isn't our only focus, effort and issue.

And I'd be surprised if they did. Regardless of how much we're trying to change them - you can't change a nation's mindset and standards overnight. soemthing that's been in motion for thousands of years won't succumb to another's desires instantly. And lot of people still only know how to function according to their former dictatorship (or whatever you want to call it)
If they want us out then it will be just on a verbal level and emotional level- they would never turn against us...If they were capable of turning against anyone then we wouldn't be over there, right now.

Yes. The U.S is there to help build the country. And if the country is ready to be on its own, then the U.S should respect that. Now do I think they should pull everyone out? No. I think there should be a significant amount left just to ensure that the country will be ok. KWIM.

Absolutely. Why wouldn't we want to? IMO, Iraq is going to have huge problems no matter what. They have had huge problems for centuries. At least this way we leave because THEY want us to and any problems they have will be their own, and not just our fault.

I don't think we need to let our guard down completely, but we need to get out if they don't want us there.

Absolutely, it is no longer our place (not that it ever was) but especially if their gov't asks us to go.
