For those of you with kids that have ADD or ADHD are they on the EFM program and if so whats the category they have them in. Also if you are an adult with ADD and its not that entirely bad but its something you take meds for would they also be on EFM.

My son is ADHD and he is EFM catagory 2.

oh well I dont know what all the different categories mean. Whats a Cat 2.

My friends son is ADHD and they are not on EFMP because they can get his medication anywhere and he doesn't really need hospital treatment or anything. He just gets regular checkups. That's a tricky one though

well where we are going it shouldnt be problem getting meds. our son doesnt need any hospitalization either.

CATEGORY 1: Needs do not generally limit assignments.

CATEGORY 2: Pinpoint assignments INCONUS or OCONUS

CATEGORY 3: No overseas assignment for your family member is authorized unless appropriate medical and/or educational services are available. This does not mean EFM sponsors cannot receive an unaccompanied assignment overseas.

CATEGORY 4: Major medical areas INCONUS only. However, this does not mean EFM sponsors cannot receive unaccompanied assignments overseas. (Category 4 families are given priority-housing assignment, which defined, is the first available house that meets the needs of the category 4 Exceptional Family Member).

CATEGORY P: Exceptional Family Members who have submitted their application and are awaiting a category to be assigned. (This information is entered into the EFMP registry at the local level and is changed by the EFMP Manager at Headquarters when the category is assigned.)

CATEGORY T: The sponsor currently has no assignment restrictions. However, an EFM sponsor who has joint custody of the EFM, but does not have physical custody of the EFM, will be placed in this category.

I think mds is a Cat 1 (dh has always handled the stuff with EFMP). It's never been a problem for us, but the EFMP office is ALWAYS slow in getting thing processed for a PCS.

I didn't know ADD/ADHD could be considered EFM. My son's doctor never mentioned when he was diagnosed with ADHD a couple months ago.
