So tomorrow is my birthday but Friday night Tyler, one of his older brothers, his girlfriend and I are going out to celebrate. I'm turning 21. I really want to do the hair poof style thingy but don't know how. My bangs have grown out quite a bit so I don't think I'll have any trouble getting it to stay. What supplies and products will I need to do this? Thanks in advance. Now for some pictures of what I want.

On the right.

Also, how big should it be (Avril's is bigger than all the others) and should my hair be pulled back or down? I just want to do something different. My forehead is small so this probably won't look silly on me. I'm hoping lol. Step by step instructions greatly encouraged and appreciated.

Well happy birthday :)

As far as the hair help I'm no help whatsoever. My hair is too fine to hold that up without a gallon of hairspray. So I don't do it.

Thank you. Mine is kinda the same. It won't hold curls very well but it does. With a bit of hairspray. I hope it will hold up the poof. :lol

I just use bobby pins and a bit of spray. I wear my hair like that almost daily.

if was with my webcam i could make you a video :P but I am at work.

just grab the front twist it a bit, poof it forward, pin it to your head and spray.

most days I say forget it on the spray too

I would say just section the center/front part of your hair off and back comb it, hair spray, repeat, then lay the hair back, secure with bobby pins and hair spray again.
Does that make sense?
Maybe there's a video on youtube.

Thank you, I will check for a video on there. Call me stupid, but when you pin your hair, which way do you stick the pins in and how do they stay down? I'm incredibly bad when it comes to bobby pins. lol

instead of bobby pins maybe try those pin curl type clips.. i don't know what they are called but they are usually silver or black, metal and they pop open and closed. sorry not good with an explanation.

I think I know what you're talking about. They kinda snap. When open they form a curved V? And you make it stay by the under part sliding in? I have one. :)

I found this video. Just realized this hairstyle does have a name. lol I always just called it a poof. Quiff, I guess.

i use about 6 pins and just criss cross them. I use brown ones so they cannot be seen in my hair.

I wore my hair like that almost everyday before I got it cut. I would just backcomb the area that I wanted poofy, and use bobby pins to keep it in place. You could use some root booster too. Then I use hairspray to keep it where I want it!

section off some of your hair, hairspray it, back comb it, smooth over the top, secure with bobby pins.

if you have fine hair, i would say lots of teasing, lots of hair spraying, smoothing it out with a comb and clip it with some bobby pinsv

The more strokes you do, the bigger your quiff is going to be!!! HA!

I only use two bobby pins, just criss cross them. Use a styling spray or soft hold hairspray first,(comb your hair straight up and spray)then rat the hair directly behind it, lay over and pin under.

I guess if you have thin hair though that is probably the way to go:tu
