I just had my free annual credit report done from Equifax, and two others. It was my first time. My question is, is it normal for so many places to request your information? There were places like At&T and a lot of banks. I have never been to or applied for anything from them. Maybe it's normal, I dunno. Everything else looked right though.

yes those are usually the pre-screened offers that you get in the mail. You can opt out of those when you get one in the mail it tells you how to do so.

Yes, a lot of places will check your credit in order to offer you "pre-screened" credit cards, lines of credit, etc. Since you did not request the check, it does not count against your credit score.
