We are looking to refinance and add another car....our experience with GMAC has been bad, they constantly have their paperwork wrong and have cost me $ straightening out their mistakes. The silly incentives(mugs and notepads) they send do not make up for this in my mind.

Any recommendations?

USAA. :yes

I have 2 loans with them currently and no one has been able to beat their apr and they've just been a great experience all around. :)

To add, I used to work at a car dealership and have worked with lootttss of different finance companies and have dealt with lots of complaints from customers about various co., if you have any questions about any specific company.

We have our banking and insurance through them so they are definitely on my list to try. :tu
I think we may run into trouble because we have SO little credit history. Everything on our report is good, but there are only...two things on it.

USAA is a good one to look into. Community First Credit Union was the best we've had, but I know those banks aren't everywhere.

I had a really shitty experience with Mercantile Bank. :tsktsk They "lost" the title to my car, TWICE!

The other car loans we've had went through Honda, Ford, and Toyota.

We use Wachovia.....really hasn't been bad. And they were willing to work with us, even with our horrible credit....

we tried to refinance my lancer through usaa but they wouldnt cause we didnt have enough on our credit to do so.. :shock to get a loan through them seemed like you had to have some kinda debt whatever..

Navy Federal is who we went through

I've read that Navy Fed will work with members of al lthe military branches, so I will definitely add them and Wachovia to the list:tu

We had to use Navy Federal, and they piss me off. The title has been sent by the Exchange Auto Sales a few times now, and they keep sending us threatening letters saying they don't have it!!!
USAA wasn't an option because we are overseas. Ugh.

We just did our auto loan for DH's new mustang with USAA. They were awesome to work with. They also have a pre-approval app on their website you can fill out. We went into the dealership with "cash in hand" making the whole experience less painful!!

USAA! We decided to wait on buying another car right now, but re refinanced our current through them, and we do everything through them so it's so easy

If you can get approved- gotta vote for USAA. That's who we have our loan through and when we go to buy another vehicle eventually, it will be through them! Can't beat their customer service and we've just had good service over all.

We financed 2 of our vehicles through Bank of America, years ago. No complaints. Our van is financed through GMAC and we've had a positive experience, I'm sorry yours has not been a good one.

DH's car is financed through Nissan and my mustang was financed through BOA. I've had no problems with either but the mustang was paid off in 9 months so I didn't deal with them long. Our next car will probably be financed through USAA or Navy Fed though.

We have USAA and learned through painful experience that just choosing any lender will not work. If you ever PCS overseas and your car has a loan, you have to have a letter from your lender that says your car is allowed to go before you can ship it. You'll want to find out if they allow it.

I know America's Federal Credit Union will allow shipping of vehicles. They were formerly Ft Lewis Community Credit Union, so they deal with many Army families. I've had them for a car loan before as well.

:yes Yep. We moved overseas and had to get a letter very last minute. Thankfully USAA was SO helpful and faxed it right away. I've always had a positive experience with them.

sometimes you can't get a loan with companies but you can refinance with them. We had this issue with Navy Fed we could never get a pre-approved loan with them but were able to refinance with them once we had a car loan. :dunno
I do say you should shop around sometimes you can get a better rate with a bank you don't bank with.

We used Navy Fed and never had any problems with that. And we got a good rate considering it was only in DH's name and he didn't really have any credit history at that point. The car we'll either use them again or USAA.

I would either go with USAA or a credit union. We have our loan through Community First which used to be Educational something or other Credit Union (like MichelleB) and they are awesome. I think credit unions would be the least likely to rip you off. I've also had a loan through Navy Federal, they were really good to me too (my first "major" car loan was through them and I had no credit either).

We refinanced my truck through USAA and couldn't be happier. DH and I don't have the best credit (we are working to clear it up) and they refinanced it w/o any trouble. They also dropped our payments by like 150 a month.

I go thru my credit union. I've had 2 car loans and a personal loan thru them since 1992. They generally will have no problem granting future loans when you have a good loan history with them.

Any luck on your loans?

I say stay away from Wachovia the reson why I say this long story short every two months wachovia sends me a letter stating that I don't have comp on my insurance and they are going to make me pay for there insurance. So here is why I go through tis all the freaking time with them hubby and I have a 0 deduct on comp so they keep wachovia put it in there system as us not having it so every time they make there mistakes meaning Wachovia. I get on the phone with USAA and they call them and tell them no she dose have insurance and more than enough coverage. That's the only reason why I don't like them and they have prepayment penalties. I would stay away from them I am in the process of refi with USAA. We had a loan with Navy fed our first auto loan and we didnt even have a credit file and we had good rates and good everything from coustomer service and help finding a good dealership.

Haven't applied for any yet. Still compiling lists of places and average interest rates and searching for the perfect car. If I can find a suitable vehicle used, it will greatly affect where I go for a loan.

Basically just waiting a few weeks until DH is home to assist in the decision making:tu
