Lindsey 07-30-2008, 12:02 AM humm that's a good question...dh said he doesn't think so bc he isn't forced to be seperated KWIM...but he's not sure...Good luck! aelsass 07-30-2008, 12:05 AM humm that's a good question...dh said he doesn't think so bc he isn't forced to be seperated KWIM...but he's not sure...Good luck! because of my divorce it says I can't move without going to court for my son and changing stuff so for now we are. Thank you for your info though I hope this works out. Debra 07-30-2008, 12:06 AM No we do not unless he is deployed. aelsass 07-30-2008, 01:10 AM No we do not unless he is deployed. thats what we are wondering. gunsgirl 07-30-2008, 07:09 AM no you should only be getting FSH while he is deployed- and anything that they have paid will need to be paid back- and when they find it they will take ALL of the payback at one time out of one or two paychecks- literally- even if it results in a 0 basic pay balance. just be prepared. aelsass 07-30-2008, 07:16 AM no you should only be getting FSH while he is deployed- and anything that they have paid will need to be paid back- and when they find it they will take ALL of the payback at one time out of one or two paychecks- literally- even if it results in a 0 basic pay balance. just be prepared. Thats what I was worried about. Hes already gone to the chief that deals with it and asked about it. He is looking into it. He also said that he would let us know. The Chief even seems to think we are suppose to have it the way its been because we do "have to" be seperated right now. In fact when he got back from deployment they tried to take away the guys geobach that had qualified before but didn't get married till after they joined the command. Well DH showed them my divorce papers and that was what saved us. So we will see. gunsgirl 07-30-2008, 07:26 AM according to the JFTR- HAVE TO BE seperated includes only school, TDY longer than 30 days or deployment- they do not recognise personal reasons for seperation. I am not sure what "your: divorce papers have to do with being a GEO bach? Caimbrie 07-30-2008, 09:16 AM I pretty sure whoever said he's not supposed to be getting it is correct. I hope he figures it out soon so if he's not supposed to get it so ya'll don't have a whole bunch to pay back :sadeyes Personal reasons like your divorce papers the military wont consider as forced sep because THEY arent forcing it, ya know? Miss B Hav'n 07-30-2008, 09:17 AM He definitely needs to check into that. Regardless of your divorce stipulations the separation is considered voluntary (unless his orders specifically state they are unaccompanied orders for military reason) and, therefor, not a qualifier for FSA. CoffeeGirl 07-30-2008, 10:38 AM we don't get it knockouttrish 07-30-2008, 11:05 AM For those that have Geo Bach do you get Family Seperation pay? We do...and someone told DH he isn't suppose to be. So hes talking to a guy in his command and asking him those questions. It probably depends on the situation. I know for us when DH goes to NH with the boat we will be getting the BAH for the area that he is in since it is higher that in VA and we will also get the FSP. I don't know if it is different for our situation though becuase the boat is doing a change of homeport. The kids and I are not moving with the boat and DH denied the change of homeport certificate. That is the reason that we will be getting the FSP. gunsgirl 07-30-2008, 01:29 PM It probably depends on the situation. That is the reason that we will be getting the FSP. your situation is completey different- the reason you are seperate- and change of homeport has it's very own section in the JFTR- alot of things are allowed for change of homeport situations. aelsass 07-30-2008, 01:49 PM He definitely needs to check into that. Regardless of your divorce stipulations the separation is considered voluntary (unless his orders specifically state they are unaccompanied orders for military reason) and, therefor, not a qualifier for FSA. He is and has the Chief looking into it. The same guy that DH was talking to also said he doesn't get BAS but when DH asked his Chief about it he says no we are suppose to get that like we have been. They also take out $200 something a month for his galley food which hes really trying to use more. Donna 07-31-2008, 12:49 PM We wont be getting it either. we were told that if the family is on the orders, but chooses not to go that you dont qualify for sep pay. now if you guys arent on the orders, then yes you get it. ~*Dawn*~ 07-31-2008, 04:23 PM DH is forward deployed in Japan (and a geo-bachelor) and we've gotten separation pay since we got married. mossey2000 07-31-2008, 04:26 PM Seabees get BAS, even on deployment. |
