Ok I have heard that on occasion you can get tricare to pay for a tummy tuck. Does anyone know if this is true? I had two c-sections and now I have a HUGE flap of skin that I can't get to go away, and I am starting to have some issues with it that I can't get them to go away.

TIA ladies

I had a close friend who had one. It took her a long time to get Tri-Care to cover it. Basically, she had a separated muscles, and she had to prove that it wasn't a cosmetic reason.

I don't think they cover it in normal circumstances, however if you want a boob job you're good to go. :giggle

Because it hurts your self esteem to have teenie boobies. :tears That's how it was explained to me anyway. :giggle Cause, you know. This kangaroo pouch I'm carrying around makes me feel HAWT! :rofl

My sister had a tummy tuck done, but it was after she had gastric--it was also about 16 years ago, so a lot has changed.

I want a boob job, tummy tuck, and lipo. I don't like my chin either. And my ass could be lifted a bit higher ...

I thought I remember an article saying the military was covering boob jobs to give their surgeons more surgery time.

you have to prove medical necessity for the tummy tuck.
this is a little icky but....if you start getting rashes or issues from having the skin flap, go to the doctor. Every time. After a while ask for a referral to get it fixed.
But you have to prove that it's a medical problem.

I know the Navy paid for DF's mom's boob job but that was like 20 years ago.

My DH says that they have military surgeons that will do boob jobs and other types of plastic surgery because they need the experience. With the boobs though, you have to buy the .... merchandise. Military will only cover the actual procedure and hospital stay.

That is the suck.

Wouldn't it be worth the experience to do any other procedure in that case? I guess I'm ending up paying 100% for mine. No way in HELL I would let a mil doc operate on me just to save a buck. :refuse

I think a lot of it has to do with which hospital you're getting your boobs done at. Some of the big military medical centers have stopped all "elective" cosmetic procedures because they are taking care of wounded service members.

well head to the doctors office. You have to have it in your medical file that you're having these problems. If it goes away and comes back, don't just use the same thing to fix it, head back to the doctors office. Good luck!
When I have my GBS and drop all my weight, I'll be doing it to try to get my "apron" fixed and my boobs put back where they should be. I'm sure at that point, I'll be tucking my boobs into my waist band and my apron into my socks. It won't be pretty!

Good luck with everything and thanks for the sdvice!! I really hope that me being diabetic speeds up the process.. but I doubt it will.. gotta love military healthcare! :lol
