we just signed up for USAA checking and got our cards in the mail. We each got a debit card and then a cash card.

What the heck is the difference? It sounds like the same thing in the little letter that came with it. :dunno

I am not sure, its been a long time since i opened my account. Do you have a seperate savings account? Even with a savings account we don't have a seperate card. I don't know either...sorry no help here.

Give them a call i am sure they will be willing to answer you questions.

When dh & I opened out account we got the same thing. The debit card you can use as a debit or credit but with the cash card you can only use it to draw money out of an ATM.

wow that is weird. when we opened our account last year we just got debit cards which are both ATM/debit/check cards.
but my guess would be it is purely an atm card ( or even a debit card if you input the pin at the POS terminal)

That is the way it was when we opened our account many years ago!

I had to call USAA for something else and just so happened to ask. The cash card is only with an ATM and only for savings, whereas the debit is just like normal and can be used for purchases or ATM from checking.

Very happy to hear that you got the right answer...The only way I remembered about the cash card is dh has one but never uses it unless its for an emergency.

I have both cards too. :shrug We put the green ones in our safety deposit box, just in case our blue cards are stolen.

The green cards are only for atm withdrawls and the blue ones are for all your other purchases.

ahh that would explain it we don't have a savings account there so I only got the check cards.

hmmm... :thinking I have no clue. It still doesn't make that much sense. I used to be with US Bank and my atm/debit card had access to savings as well. :dunno

Ya we got that too and I think they are hitting the same thing with two cards. Not sure the green one is necessary.
