My friend just got divorced from her husband who is in the military. They have 3 kids together and they are still on tricare prime. Her military ID expired. Is there a way she can still get her kids on base? How does that work. Do they give kids id to get on base or her? just wondering

Her ex needs to get the kids ID cards, depending on the base she may receive some form of ID card/pass that allows her to take the kids to certain places.

The kids need ID cards...and so does she. Even though she is no longer married to him, she is still in charge of the kids and needs one to drive on to base.

Because she is no longer a military dependent, they may not give her an ID. If the kids have and ID and they are with her, she should just have to stop at the visitors center, bring in her DL, proof of insurance, and kid(s) with ID(s) and they will give her a pass. (I don't believe that they give ID's to non dependents)

There's a special id she gets. Ian's (DSS) momma has one because he's 2.

wow that would suck for every time you took them on base to have to go to the visitor center.

Andrew can't remember the name of it but he said if she went to pass and id they should be able to help her out.

Dh's ex used to have one, so I know they do issue it. I belive it specifically said on hers that she only had access with the minor children, if they weren't there she didn;t have base access

ETA this was 4 years ago though

He (ex) needs to get her the form and she takes it to the base that she is closes too. and I agree, she gets a special ID card, my friend has one for her two girls. She can even shop on base for things just for the girls-clothes and such.

I think she can get still get an ID if they were married for at least 10 yrs while he's in the service until she remarries. She might need paperwork from her ex, though. I'm not really sure about that process.

she will get an id card- it is stipulated so she can get on base, pay for commisary groceries and other things on the minor childrens behalf.

My exhusband went with me to get my son's ID, I didn't get one. When I go on bases I just show my son's ID and my drivers license.
