hi, my name is liz my husband just left to navy A school in mississippi. his school is 7 weeks. i'm new to all this. i was wondering if anyone had some good advise, because we will be moving soon and i have no idea what to do or when we'll find out were we're going. we have a 4 year old daughter that will be starting school this year, but my husband said it might be better if he moves first then we come out later. and is it better to fly or to drive? and will they give us money to move? and when will they move our stuff? i have no idea what i'm doing, and i'm starting to panic. liz

It is very nerve wracking. Just hang in there! If you have a car that you will need/want to be using in the new place you will have to drive it or have it shipped there. Shipping your car is our of pocket. The Navy will pay for guys to come out and pack all your stuff, then more guys will come and load it all up and take it to where ever you tell them. In my case the driver had the wrong information so make sure you know that they know where your stuff is going. Make sure you get rid of all your arisol cans, including shaving cream. Discard all cleaners. shampoos and lotions are fine. Most all the food in your kitchen should be used up or tossed. I put some of my spices and what not in my big flour and sugar containers and that worked really well. Some movers will remove the batteries from all your stuff and you'll have to take them with you, give them away or toss them. I guess really thats the what you can do for anything the movers wont take. Just take it with you unless you decide to fly. for our first move we got a dislocation allowence after we got to the new place. We had to front money for the plane tickets, Hotel and transportation. All was reimbursed except the hotel.

Where are you moving too? You can either do a DITY or a military move. If you're by yourself it may be easier to do the military move.
