GRANTED CALIFORNIA IS A LITTLE MORE ALLOWING AND OPEN MINDED than some states when it comes to nursing.... but....
its amazing what a little actvism will do. :)
I personally have boycotted a few well known stores because i was asked to leave while i nursed my daughter(she was covered by a blanket and no part of her or my chest could be seen.)

If they are not going to be accomodating to me, or take offense to something like breastfeeding (like VS did in saying/implying "we dont allow changing in the middle of the store- why would we allow breast feeding?") then they dont deserve my $$$

I will be going to VS at fashion valley on saturday, nursing my daughter under her nursing shawl.... and if i am asked to leave, fine... i will be turning customers away on my way out :))

"dont spend your dollars at a place that doesnt appreciate you or your breasts."

nursing moms, next time someone asks you if you can go nurse in the bathroom, ask them if they like to eat in there too. maybe shat will shut them up :)

Although I believe women should be able to breastfeed in public, I'm not so sure if this type of protest will be affective. I wouldn't want to have my baby in the middle of something that could become hostile.

i had been debating on posting this or not. i will be at my local mall on saturday with trent. VS has numerous times asked women to nurse in the bathrooms and would not allow them to nurse in their changing rooms. they have told women that it is unsanitary for them to nurse in the store:vent there are laws to protect nursing moms and this company has crossed the line.

I do not think it is Victoria's Secret persay but rather it is the people who work there. I used to work there and we did allow it in the changing room and would ask them to not do it in the middle of the store if they were not covering them selves. I am a huge advocate for breast feeding but I also feel that women shoulf be discreet. I do not expect anyone to have to go to the bathroom to do it or be asked to. However I feel that there should be more places for a Mom to breast feed comfortably.

Just the other day I saw a mom walking through garden Ridge breastfeeding her baby.. all she had covering her baby's face and breast was the bottom of her t-shirt.... I think women should be allowed to nurse in the changing rooms... the bathrooms are the unsanitary place and when did breastfeeding become so unsanitary??? The women who work there are probably most of the problem, but if they don't have children or haven't been around children or mothers who choose to breastfeed then they will/would never understand... I just hope other people start to open their eyes... the benefits of breastfeeding far outweigh the 10-20 minutes a woman would be in a fitting room feeding her child!

here is what i dont understand. VS sells see-thru bras and underwear. now all of the sudden, the possiblity of seeing a nipple or breast is wrong!:hairpull while it might not be the corporations rules to aske women to leave, they need to educate their employees about breastfeeding. right now Target is having the same issues. not allowing women to breastfeed in their changing rooms. we are feeding our babies, not playing with ourselves!!!:vent :banghead

*can you tell that i am passion about this!!:giggle *

I was thinking it must have been the employees also. I have nursed both of my children in the VS in PA. I never did at the one mentioned in the post, but I have been in there before and the employees are quite snooty. I have never been asked to go to a bathroom to nurse my child- ever.

I again have to stand up for Target. I have always used their changing rooms and have even read signs in Targets asking Mothers to ask to be let in a changing room to breast feed their babies for their own comfort.

I am not saying it has not happened at those stores. I am saying that stores are getting a bad name for what their employees have said rather it follows policy or not.

I have nursed wherever, whenever my child was hungry. I am discreet about it and live in nursing shirts when my babies are little but I've never gone into a changing room or a restroom to nurse my baby. I have gone to an empty isle to latch a baby on just incase, since little babies aren't always the most graceful nursers! I don't know why nursing in public is such a big deal. If it makes you uncomfortable then look away.

i've never been asked to nurse in a bathroom but if i was i'd be telling someone to shove something where the sun doesn't shine. i've been to a couple of different VS and at one of them the employees were wonderful and at the other they were incredibly rude and snotty.

i'd definately boycott a store that asked me to BF in a restroom and told me that feeding my baby was unsanitary. i'd let people know about it too, but i'd probably send out a mass email.
