:) Moving to San Diego

--------------------------------------------------------------------------------

Hello Ladies..
We are thinking about moving to the west coast. We have always been on the east coast and want to try something different.
I was looking at housing in San Diego, but I don't know anything about the area. Are there certain housing to stay away from? Which is the best. I am trying to look at the schools too. I have an daughter that will be in the 4th grade.

Any input would be great!

:thumbsup Good Morning!
Yes, I know how you feel. I really think that we are going to shoot to go to San Diego or Washington.:thinking

That surprises me, I thought you were always a Virginia kind of gal ;) What made you opt for distant shores?

We figure this will most likely be our last move so lets go and see a place we have never been.

That makes sense. That's why we came to SC when we did...well, that and we knew it was the only place we could go for shore duty :lol

I was in SD and so sad we are not going back. We are going to Everett, Wa. I reccomend for schools to either go to Poway or put your children in the charter schools. Housing is mostly newer but not everywhere has A/C and it is proving to be a huge issue this year. I know housing in the East County area has A/C and I believe also in the Poway area. I hope this helps you a little.

If you're able to get in, we absolutely LOVED LOVED LOVED Silver Strand in Coronado. The school was great and just down the road. We lived in Phase I (not the townhouses) and had a nice yard to play in, plenty of parks in the area, beach basically across the street, bay around the corner...it was WONDERFUL!

NTC is really nice & new, not sure how Gateway is going...it was rebuilt recently. We lived there but hated it...that was before they kicked everyone out and demolished it to rebuild though, it may be different now.

Murphy Canyon is a HUGE area, most like it up there.

My g/f lived in Lofgren in Chula Vista and liked it, it's townhouses though. Schools out there are ok. Not my top choice but they're decent.

I'll let others pipe in on their views & opinions on the ones I've mentioned & haven't!

good luck with your move. we are gonna try to head back to VA next go round and it will be my hubbys last duty station and then he retires. woooooooohooooooo and since we want to stay on the east coast for the most part i would rather be either in Va or NC , MD somewhere there. as much as i would like to check out the west coast i hear its expensive but i also hear they have some great charter schools out there too and some really nice places to live.
