View Full Version : QUESTION
BGsWIFE 06-28-2006, 10:09 AM well what is the usual time of getting in to see your doctor once you take a home test? i found out saturday that i am pregnant :yahoo and i called monday and then said that i was probably too early to find out anything:imwaiting . but i had a miscarriage last year and i want to make sure that everything is ok!!! so they said that they would do a blood test to find out if i am definatly and to find out about how far along i am and to make sure my hormone levels are good. i am nervous:ohno!!! i hope that this baby makes it to term!!
Amber V 06-28-2006, 10:12 AM My experience is they confirm you are pregnant and the they will see you between 9-12 weeks gestation. Congratulations!!!!!!!
Maria406 06-28-2006, 10:14 AM Congratulations!!!!!!! I would just ask them when the is the earliest you can go in. I have never had a baby, so I really don't know, sorry. But I'm really excited for you! Good luck!!! I'm sure it will go wonderfully!!
Kaymara 06-28-2006, 10:16 AM They usually get you in right away to confirm it via a urine or blood test. And then they usually dont make another appt until around 8-10 weeks usually for your first regular appt.
Congrats
Maria406 06-28-2006, 10:27 AM I was also thinking that if you're really concerned, I'm sure that if you convey that to your doctor they really should let you come in, even if it's only to talk to them and answer any questions you have. I would just be a pain in the ass about it until I was seen. But I think Kaymara is right, they should at least do an initial test to confirm your pregnancy.
(wow, I used a lot of big words there. hehehe)
Caimbrie 06-28-2006, 10:38 AM I see so many people talk about getting thier pregnancies confirmed by a urine test and the funny thing about that is out of my 4 pregnancies the only 1 that was confirmed by a urine test was the 1 I lost. My other 3 they just took my word for it lol
Grats and good luck! They will have your first prenatal visit between 8 and 12 weeks :)
germanchick 06-28-2006, 10:38 AM First off congrats on the pregnancy! I found out I was pregnant AT the doctor's office (had gone in to find out why me period had been messed up for 5 months and to switch back on my old bc pill). They took some blood after the urine test showed I was pregnant. The next day I got a call backSo my next appointment was based on how far along I approx was according to the hcg levels. That was at 8 weeks or so.
NavyChiefs_Wife 06-28-2006, 10:39 AM Congratulaions!!!When I was pregnant, they did the blood test and then saw me a couple weeks later. Hope everything goes well for you.
PrincessBlue505 06-28-2006, 11:59 AM After I found out, I went in to medical, they had me do a urine test (I asked for a blood test cuz I thought that was standard for the dr to confirm the pregnancy, and they told me they don't do preggo blood tests there! *roll eyes). Then since my base medical didn't have an OB, I was set up with a referral for an OB out in town and given a perscription for prenatal vitamins so I could get them free through medical.
The OB in town didn't want to see me until I was 8weeks along-they told me that if anything went wrong before my first trimester was over then that there was nothing they could do about it due to the young gestational age-that if I was going to miscarry, I was going to miscarry regardless of what they did. Then at that 8 week appt, all they did was weigh me and take down a medical history, and do some "counselling" about what I should be doing as a preggo woman and they also did a blood test at that time. My appt where they actually did anything like a pap and listening for the heartbeat and stuff wasn't until I was 12weeks along.
=Mrs.AiNokeA= 06-28-2006, 12:30 PM Sorry I've never been pregnant just wanted to say congrats. :cp
Mandi 06-28-2006, 12:35 PM Congrats to you guys!! I went in for a blood test right away then had an appointment around 8 weeks or so. I also had a miscarrage 5 months prior, but they still wanted to see me at 8 weeks. Good Luck!!!
Congrats to you and I hope everything goes good for you.
CoffeeGirl 06-28-2006, 12:42 PM Congrats & best of luck to you!:goodvibes
Lindsey 06-28-2006, 02:24 PM Congrats...I went in at 7weeks and then at 12 weeks....At 7 they did all the tests and what not and 12 was just to check progress!
mElIsSaE 06-28-2006, 02:55 PM Both my times whenI found out I was preggo whas with civillian docs. This time my Re had me go in after I got a positive home test to run beta and then I was being watched real close but tha was because of the many years we have been trying.
mara_jade81 06-28-2006, 03:46 PM with madison i went in after i had a positive home test and they just did a urine test to confirm and set up appointments. they made me go to some OB orientation before i could see a dr. too (that was at pensacola navy hospital).
with hayden i had a positive home test, went in and they did a blood test. i go to a naval clinic here so when they confirmed it they set me up to go to tripler army hospital. i went in to do paperwork and blood tests and then had an actual appointment around 12 weeks.
amandalaine 06-28-2006, 06:57 PM I found out with a home test on a Monday, called the next day and they had me in a week later. They got family history, did an exam, gave me an RX for vitamins, and gave me the order for my blood work. I had my next appt at 10 weeks where they did the dating U/S.
Becca 06-28-2006, 07:49 PM Congrats on the pregnancy!!! That is so exciting. When I found out I was pregnant I was working full time and had benefits of my own. I took the home test and then when it was positive I went to MY doctor that afternoon, he got me right in. Then I called the naval hospital to get everything square with them and because I had already been seen and declared pregnant (that sounds so silly) I wasn't as much of a priority. It took about a week for me to see someone at the naval hospital.
I am high risk for miscarriages and early labor, so I made it clear to my docs nurse about that and she got me on prenatals as soon as we confirmed the pregnancy and most naval hospitals won't see you until 10-12 weeks.
