we have an empty area in our new-home kitchen. we're thinking of putting in an island that has spaces for stools so it serves as a breakfast area and extra storage/working kitchen space. we saw one at an unfinished wood store, but i'd like to compare. anyone know a good place for something like this?? we checked a regular furniture store, but no luck. we check lowes but they were a custom item.

sounds like you are looking for something more permanent, than the more "kitchen cart" style. i've been looking for a kitchen cart myself. small & mobile. target.com has some more sturdier ones.

Try Ikea as well, they have tons of different kitchen options.

we got one at Lowes, then had the same counter top we have cut to cover the top of the island so it looks like it belongs. It actually was not that much, I think maybe $400.

I would say Ikea, but that site LaneyBug posted looks awesome!! I wonder if they ship to APOs, doubtful, but I'm looking...I've been wanting one myself.

Darn, they don't ship outside the contiguous states. Oh well, would have taken a year to get here anyway. :pout
