on our ship it is last name & 1st initial unless there is someone else with the same first initial and last name as you - then it's first 2 initials after last name. doej@shipname.service.mil or doeja@shipname.service.mil

Sometimes its the hull # instead of the ships name. But other then that its the first 6 letters of last name first initial middle initial @ ships name/hull #.navy.mil

ok, so I sent out 2 emails one with his full last name, one with the first 6 letters... I feel like I'm throwing a bottle with a note in it out into the ocean... I hope one gets to him!!

Hope he gets your e-mail. Usually it depends on the command he's attached to for how they want it set it by the IT's. Dh's was First Initial, Last Name@Ship's Name.navy.mil. And then they changed them all to Last Name, First Initial@Ship's Name.navy.mil.
Anyways, maybe he'll call soon and you can ask him again, or maybe he'll e-mail you first and you can get it then.
