In my experience we were always given a date about a month out.

My best advice would be to stay in touch with the Ombudsman and if possible go to the FSG meetings, that is the best way to get information about homecoming, including their arrival date. For dh's ship, they had a careline and usually it would be updated very regularly and the Ombudsman would inform us their arrival date and time within 24-48 hours.

As far as the Navy's concerned.. we usually have a tentative return date before they deploy. It could be that day, could be 2 weeks early, 2 weeks late or even could be extended several months past that date, but we're always given some date to shoot for. Your husband should be able to clue you in as to when he'll be back.. that's why a lot of people have created codes to go by, like I'll be back so many days after grandma's bday or your mom's anniversary.. stuff like that, or go by how many paydays (since paydays are easy to figure out)

I make homecomings a HUGE deal.. I go all out with special outfits for Camryn and myself, I decorate the whole outside of our apartment, stairway, landing and back balcony. I start planning and buying things to decorate and making signs at the halfway point of the deployment.. that way I have something to look forward to..

I agree..your Ombudsman will be notified and you should either get a schedule for when the ship/airlift/etc. comes in!

Have a great homecoming!!

Your KV should contact you with homecoming details. If not then contact them.

Depending on where they are coming into on base, more then likely it will be up at Margaritaville, cause you guys are at Pendelton, huh?. And you can see the buses before they are near you!! :D

We can't help you. You NEED to contact your KV. they are the only ones besides the command who know excatly what time and day they will be there. And the do have excat dates and times.

Keep calling, seriously, Im sure they KNOW a date by now. The only other advice I can give you is, just because they have a date... doesnt make it set in stone. When my dh was coming back from Iwakuni, I started driving across the country from KY to meet him in CA.... When I got there I was informed that they were delayed 2 days. Then the day they were supposed to be in at like 9am... 9am came and went... we were all sent to do something and come back at 4pm... 4pm no plane. 5pm no plane 6pm no plane.... 7 pm the plane landed... and the door on the C130 they were coming in on got STUCK... FROZE shut. They had to wait for it to warm up to get it off. They had had the same issue in Alaska where they had stopped for fuel, which was the cause of the delay from the expected 9am to the actual landing of 7pm. No it doesnt happen everytime, but remember you have to be Semper Gumby.... ALWAYS FLEXIBLE!

I just hope to know a day early so I can tell my dad when to take off work. she said she would tell us when she knew something we know we have a ten day window(ie. he can come home anywhere from 1 to 10 days after a certain day)
