we save all extra money.... which over 6 months is a few grand.

Weve never been through a underway when its our money...Im thinking we will save a bunch cause i work and pick up the utilities and my half of the car payment and he pays the rest and the food...And we dont have children, so we pretty much grocery shop once a month

Well when we rented in San Diego we saved it all both deployments.
In Va on our last 2 deployments and we had to replace all septic lines and put 2 new roofs on the house, that took what he got paid and then some and he got paid more than most because he got per diem for 2 months plus all of the HD pay and Sep etc...
So for us it has depended on where we were

We save mega amounts of money, but I usually work when he isn't here. I think last deployment Dh was deployed for about 8 months we saved over 8,000.

Every other deployment and the year in Korea, we saved ALOT of money, but he's leaving again here soon, and I've not had any luck finding a job so I have no idea how we're going to do this time. I'm sure I'll save some, but I don't think it will be the couple of thousand I've managed to save in the past.

I'm not able to save anything but Matthew saves all his money that he receives on his Navy Cash card. The only money he spends on deployment is what it costs to call me and maybe buy some dinner while he's waiting on a phone.
