View Full Version : Sick Bay?

So Ryan is really sick.. to the point where his coughing is keeping him up all night, which is not working with the whole two job thing. Usually we would never see a doctor, but he fell asleep driving today, so I am MAKING him go. The problem is that Tricare told me to go to the Sick Bay on 32nd ST. I called them and they are closed at 2... so does that mean there is NOTHING he can do? If not, I will make him go to a civilian doctor and fight with Tricare or pay out of pocket later. But this is our first time on shore duty where he has had to see a doc. What do I do? Before he just went to whatever Doc was on duty on the ship... HELP!

He can go to Urgent Care at 32nd St. There is always a duty person there. At least there was when DH worked there. Their sick call is at 7am and it's on a first come, first serve basis.

I don't know how San Deigo is set up but if Sick Bay is closed tell him to go to the ER on base (or wherever the military goes there). Hope he feels better soon

Agreed. And it is covered. All active duty is now Prime so it'll be covered. And since it is closed just send em there. You may have a wait tho

Yeah, I called those :quote lovely :quote people and they said go to the sick bay. I called them back and told them it was closed and she gave me a number that is disconnected. So I will take him to Balboa and just wait I guess! Thanks ladies! I appreciate the help.

Irritating as I am sure that you are not the first person not to know what to do.

I know that when dh broke his arm.. we just went to an ER.. then I called tricare...

If not a walk in clinic I think is cheaper than going to just a regular doctor that's if you decided not to go on base. I hope he feels better!

There used to be (when DH worked at the clinic at 32nd street) an urgent care clinic at the active duty clinic. It only sees active duty patients and there is always someone there on duty. Glad he got an appt though.
