ok for a girl to wear a thong? Do you think letting them wear a thong will speed up their sexual curiousity?

I wore a thong at the age of 13. My mom didn't like panty lines and neither did I. Once I started complaining, she took me to buy some thongs. It freaked the crap out of my step-dad when he did laundry but whatever. If my girls wanted to buy thongs for that reason around the age of 13 or 14, I don't see why not. Some pants are just not cute with bikini briefs or granny panties. I'd rather buy them thongs at that age than look at 2 inches of their undies sitcking out of the top of their pants and/or watching them pull their granny panties out of their butt all day. :lol

I do not think having sensible underwear under your clothes will speed up the sexual curiousity.

Ummmm...not until is she 18+ and I don't have a say so. It looks too "grown up" for a little girl.

Maybe I'm too liberal about it then :shrug

Poor DH.

Ok, I thought more on it. I don't think there are certain thongs appropriate. I wouldn't buy them silky thongs, frilly thongs, black, red, or things like that, in the "sexy" sense.

I got my first tongs at 13 but it was mostly b/c my dance teacher didnt like panty lines so she didnt want us wearing panties so my mom thought that would be a good middle ground. I dont see anything wrong with it. Cotton thongs arent bad like you said... nothing sexy.

I dont personally think wearing a thong will speed up their sexual curiousity... I started wearing them around 13/14... so I will let my daughter do the same.

i think that girls need to dress appropriately. i know when i was 13 and 14 i had boobs and a i always had a butt not big but enough that i filled jeans out well. i bought my first thong when i was 15 or 16 b/c my grandma was highly against them. she freaked out the first time she did my laundry. i think that if they are filling out jeans and panty lines are showing then by all means get them thongs but not those 'sexy' ones--ya'll know which ones i mean the really lacy ones, etc etc. those i think need to wait till their older. plain simple ones i still like the best unless i'm going to be with dh then i'll wear nicer ones :D

I hate thongs and I hope Madison never wants to wear one personally. I have never worn one, they bug the hell out of me.

I've heard quite a few people say that, but I can't stand "regular" underwear. Drives me batty. Only when I wear a skirt. :yes

I've never worn a thong so I'm not sure. But I wonder why people think a thong will make a girl go sleep with whoever.

When she starts complaining of having lines. Then she can have them. If its 13 so be it or 16 or 20

I had my first thong when I was 17 but if Sydney wants to wear them at an earlier age then that's just fine.

I'm thinking the same thing. I don't want my dd being the one with her thong sticking out of her jeans. Plus I didn't start wearing them until I was in my 20's. She can wear boyshorts, they cover more.

IMO a thong is just a thong an underwear piece, just like a bra is a bra. Thongs have a pourpose.

I agree. As long as it is nothing 'fancy' I wouldn't have a problem with that. I know DH would though since he doesn't even like me wearing them. lol

All I own is thongs... I cannot stand regular pnaties. I like the absolute smallest things I can get that JUSt covers my crotch and the rest are strings lol... I guess I'm not typical haha.

ANYWAY... I think I would let me daughter wear them if she wants once she is sround high school age if she asks me.

Having worked at Vickies before made me change my mind. When she has clothes that need one then I will buy her one for that item ie: tan slacks a nude color thong and only one. And if I find it in the laundry and know that she has not worn the clothes it was bought for we will be having a talk.

I got my first at 13- my friend bought it for me as a birthday gift. There was alot of sexual curiousity back at that age and "thongs" were like the height of sexual wonders back then for us. I never wore it though.

I do not call them "thongs" though- thongs are shoes.. or what americans would call "flip flops". So "thongs" to me are g-strings.

I have owned a few g's.. and i NEVER wore them! I only started wearing them last year and i still havn't since giovanni has been gone. I may when i see him. I did buy some but really- i never liked them that much.

At 13- its quite exciting to have one. I mean- every kid is quite curious around puberty- but i dont believe owning one is going to possess them to do anything other then wear it. Alot of girls will be like me and not want to anyway. And i think girls will end up going out to the mall and buying one around 16 anyway.. its not that big of a deal.

For one, I won't buy them for my daughter,,,, EVER!
I can be a hypocrite, I can live with that.
But when it comes to my daughter, when she is 16, has a job and chooses to spend her money on thongs, that is her perogative. I don't think I could ever bring myself to purchase that type of thing for my little girl.

Boy, I must be a prude for not allowing Emily to wear one before she's 18. That is of course, she wants to wear one.

I never liked how they felt on me. Felt like something was up my ass at all times, and it literally was :hehe.

i wore thongs @ 15 because i wanted to. I had no age restriction on me but i had to hide them from my mother or else she'd throw a fit but she did see it when i was 16 and that solved her curiosity as to why i liked doing the laundry so much LOL. She just gave me a lecture about why i shouldn't wear them because of guys and i just told her that they were more comfortable so i guess she just let that one go.
I agree that 18 should be the age to do watever a child wants but I know that they will go hog wild if they don't have many freedoms until then.. If i catch my daughter having one or a couple @ 16 i would probably do the same thing my mother did.

My little cousin wears them and she is 14. I didn't have a problem because of the dress she wore to her grad. It was very cute and age appropriate. She also plays volleyball and if you all know about the private school shorts, you know they are far from attractive or comfortable. lol. Poor girls have their chonies hangin' out the top and bottom, so a thong wasn't a bad decision. It hasn't increased her curiousity at all, she could care less. lol. Of course she gets the cute girly ones and not the all out fredrick's style or anything. ;)

Well, I bought my own. My parents didn't care one way or the other. I was in Middle School when I started wearing them. And if I ever have a daughter (hopefully) I wouldn't care. I don't know about DH though. He already has so much rules for our (pretend) daughter it ain't funny!

My mom bought me thongs when i was almost in high school. Why !? Well b/c i have a underwear problem... regular ones would go up my ass on one side!! LMAO So when she saw them she figured hell they go up there anyways...might as well make it more comfy for me!! LOL

I never looked at them as being "sexual" ...it was for comfort!

I remember the first one I got, I was about 13-but it was just because I had a dress for homecoming that showed my underwear way too much. My mom told me to get one, but I didn't like it..didn't wear one again until I was 18. I think I would let my daughter, I knew many girls who wore them & other stuff like them, & weren't sexually active.

I don't think she should be wearing them till she's 18. Generally, if you wear thongs, you feel sexy compared to if you were wearing a pair of granny underpants :wink She doesn't need to be feeling sexy until she's 18 :lol

I agree. I didn't wear them until I was an adult and I think if we ever have a girl once she is 18 she can decide but not until then. If I am lucky though we will keep having boys and won't have to worry about thongs.;) :D

My dd calls them wedgie panties... She has had a few pairs, from her shopping with her friends, but I hate them. When I find them they are taken away and disposed of. I have convinced her boy shorts are cuter anyway.

Boy shorts are very cute and don't have the panty line issues either. I like them but they didn't really have those everywhere when I was a teen.

Probably when she shows an interest in buying her own underwear.

I think I was 15 or 16 when I became really interested in bras and panties. I didn't get into the thong thing hardcore, but I wore them with capris.

I totally agree... I don't feel it's appropriate for young girls, and I wouldn't let my daughter have them until I don't have a say... If her underwear is sticking out of her jeans, then the jeans are too low cut.

I dunno...I think I'll have to see what I think when the time comes. I know places like Old Navy sell cotton ones that have a more practical purpose like comfort and no panty lines, so if I did get some for her, it would be something like that. I don't think I would get them just because she wanted them...she would have to have a good legit reason for them. As far as feeling sexy in them or whatever, I personally think that getting the cotton thongs like that wouldn't make my daughter feel any sexier than she would feel in the "cute" bras that teenagers and ourselves always want to get.

Dh and I were just having this conversation and decided/agreed that as long as our daughter is living in our home, she won't be wearing one. We will not buy her one, allow anyone to buy her one, allow her to wear them. We personally find it inappropriate to see little kids wearing them and yes, we find it inappropriate to see ANYONE'S underwear whether it be male or female.

I didn't get a thong until I was in college, but my wardrobe changed at that time also.

I wouldn't want my daughter to -need- wear one. If her pants are that low or that tight, then we have a lot bigger problems going on with her wardrobe.

I'd rather go without underwear than wear a thong. I've never liked them. I don't have a daughter, so I won't have to make that decision.

IF I had to choose, I'd probably say somewhere around 16yrs old.

Hmmm.... I don't have a daughter yet, and I don't really want to set rules before they are even born :P I know kids are all different.
I started wearing them at 13 and was not suddenly promiscuous at all! I was a fussy girl who liked to be very proper, and a VPL would drive me crazy, still does. Hate regular underwear. They never stuck out of my clothes, no one had a clue what my undies looked like :lol My dad would have tanned my hide if someone did!

I like the idea of boy shorts better, so no thongs. I asked my husband what he though of that. He gave me a 'where'd you get that idea?' look. It's those SOS women, I tell ya. If it's only up to him, he'd probably make her wear granny panties her whole life.

I started wearing them around 13/14 so probably around the same age for my girls. I don't know I hid them from my mom afraid she'd be mad but she wasn't :lol she told me she knew I had them so bought me a few pairs since she knew I must like them....I don't think that cotton ones are "sexual"

At least 16 if she asks for them. I only started to wear them, but my sister has been wearing them since she was about 17. Her sexual explosion happened FAR earlier than her wearing thongs...I feel if my daughter is going to be in sexual relationships she's gonna do it whether she has granny panties on or wearing thongs! But with that said I personally don't feel thongs are appropiate for girls or pre-teens.

Personally, I wouldn't want my 13 yo daughter wearing thongs, because of the fact that she'll have to wear tampons during her menstrual cycle. Tampons at that age is a no-no in my "book." I think another option for my daughter to avoid panty lines would be to buy her pairs of these http://www.hanes.com/HanesCommerce/en-US/Products/Product+Detail.htm?CS_ProductID=17825&CS_Category=Women_Panties_Hipsters&CS_Catalog=HanesCatalog&CatalogNavigationBreadCrumbs=HanesCatalog;Women;Women_ByCategory;Women_Panties;Womens_Panties_Body_Creations;Womens_Panties_Body_Creations&CanBuy=True
Once my daughter hit high school, then she'll have my permission to wear thongs, where I started wearing them myself.

harrisonsdream
08-15-2006, 09:02 AM
i started wearing tampons at 13 or 14 but that's because when i wore a pad all day at school or whatever i'd get irritated down there. now i only wear them to bed. i think that if my future daughter has the same problem then sure i'll let her wear tampons and then she has to wear thongs, but now they have those thong pads.

Thank god mine is a tomboy! She wouldn't wear one. I hope she wouldn't want one till after she's 17 or so. However, if one is needed for a certain outfit I wouldn't have a problem getting her plain cotton ones. I'm real anal about wearing the proper undergarments with certain clothes.
