Kevin has been using some sheet of paper to get on base since they took his id away because it was all faded and his rank has been changed for a while now. We went to get new id cards today and the woman said that they don't give new dependent cards just for rank change. I just wanted to get a better pic done before I had to fax a copy of it to someone, so no big deal, but I was just wondering if that is the same policy elsewhere. If I really want a new card, I'll just say I lost it, but I doubt I will bother with it.

Mine still says Non-PO E3....and he is an e5. I probably wont worry about it till E6, but that does seem stupid that they wouldnt give you another one!

I've encountered this question a lot and it seems at every base they handle it differently and have their own set of rules. :rolleyes I was always told you kept your ID card unless you had a drastic change of appearance, or your dh advanced 2 pay ranks. I just got a new ID yesterday because mine was set to expire at the end of this month. In my old picture I had short hair and was nine months pregant lol. That was 4 years ago lol.
I was also told that I was lucky my dh was there with me because he actually has to sign some of the paperwork for my renewal. I guess you can have them sign the paperwork in advance for you but it's just easier if they're with you.

ok Mine expires next December. Hopefully by then he'll be advanced again anyway and I'll have a drastic weight change! Well I should say I WILL have a drastic weight change by then!

i had to get a new id with new rank each time, seems kinda odd they'd have a different policy on that for each base

Here at Great Lakes, they will NOT issue you a new one unless yours is coming apart or lost. I went in when hubby made E6 and they said they absolutely do not resissue with rank change. So, apparently, it is different everywhere. I spent quite a few hours sitting up there waiting and was pissed that I wasted all that time.

Some won't change if it is between E-4 and E-6 because you don't get any added benefits from it. ( ie when you make chief you get to go to the cpo club) some won't change it if you go from E-3 to E-4 just depends. I always "lose" mine if I want a new one. Up here we now have a seperate dependent ID place and I will only go if there is a civillian working because they are much more lax about the rules. Sometimes you gotta work the system.
